Like slicing through butter
Going from a Hurst billet shifter with a short stick to the hawks was a night and day difference and is a beautiful shifter! I was able to re-use all my stock interior parts, you just need gasket maker to seal the mating surfaces.
Here's a video of it vs the hurst: https://youtu.be/YE3LFn3oDLs
I really appreciate the craftsmanship that went into this shifter. Never miss 3rd again and a big shout out to the guys at hawk for helping me figure out a issue, these guys know their Sh*t!
You should replace whatever shifter you currently have with this unit. Beautifully made, wish I could put it on display. Quick, precise, smooth movement makes it wonderful to drive the car. The unit is in a 1969 Camaro, which gets autocrossed and drag raced, and this shifter made me quicker and more consistent in both cases.
Work of art
This shifter is fantastic! A true work of art. Great feel and can be used with Hawks ZL1 knob kit. Highly recommend this shifter. Cannot beat best for the money.
Nice product. Firm shift feel. Positive engagement. Great upgrade from stock unit. Hardest part of install was getting console out of car. Shifter went in with ease. Billet shift knob is great addition to look of car as well.
well built, quality and made in the usa. installed on 02 camaro ss with 19000 miles alot better than factory hurst shifter. 2nd to 3rd is effortless never miss 3rd again.
Hawks t56 shifter
Very well made looks and works great the return to center springs could be a little heaveir. for me the throw distance is just right it does transfer a little noise from the gears in the tranmison but that dosent bother me and for the price nothing else comes close and I've tried all of them highly recommend this shifter
Great quality, fit and finish
I just got this for Christmas. I was trying to decide between this and the MGW. The MGW seems to be the gold standard within the f-body community but this looked to be good quality and I liked the price better. I figured that even if the MGW was a little better, this was still likely to be a big upgrade from stock.
I wasn't disappointed. The fit and finish in person was fantastic. This thing is great quality. The install was straight forward and easy. I just took it out for it's first drive since the install and gears are easy to find and the throws are definitely much shorter. I like how much lower the shifter sits too. The reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 star is that this shifter lacks the strong pull toward neutral between 3rd and 4th that I've heard others praised for. It's not a deal breaker for me but it would be nice. If I push it from 3-4 neutral over to 1-2 neutral, it stays there rather than firmly springing back toward the true center. Again, not a huge deal but it is what it is. I still love the shifter. I now have a white ball shifter on order for that old school look that'll match the white ext. paint.
Response from Hawks: The springback will adjust after you have driven the car for a couple of weeks. When new it is very tight and takes a couple of weeks before it is broken in. You should then notice that great springback you are looking for.
Good shifter Good price
Took a chance on this shifter after finding literally zero information on it outside of this website. I love it! Night and day difference from the original shifter. I was concerned about the angled handle being weird but it sits just right for my arm to reach. Build quality seemed well made too. If you're looking for a short throw buy this or MGW but this is 70 bucks cheaper and a great investment
Hawks T56 Shifter
I picked up a low mileage WS6 A few months ago that had a Hurst shifter that was notchy and difficult to get into 2nd and 3rd. The stock placement even with the Hurst shifter was also a bit too far away from the driver which made it feel unnatural to me. This Hawks shifter fixed all of that while still retaining the stock knob and boot. It's a night and day difference and makes driving the car way more enjoyable.
The kit was very easy to install and the fit/finish is great. I think this is a mandatory upgrade for any F Body T56 car. The only drawback I can say was the kit didn't include RTV sealant and I didn't notice it in the instructions until I had pulled my car apart so I had to reinstall the stocker and run to the auto parts place by me.
