This new replacement center console 4 speed shift lower boot it is for use on all 1970 - 1981 Camaro and Firebird Trans Am models.
It bolts to the shifter ring and hugs the shifter arm and onto the floor an opening creating a primary seal.. This is a new replacement GM Authorized reproduction produced by OER and finished in a durable rubber construction.
These tend to tear and become weak over the lifespan of 50 years and is a good idea to replace this when restoring your interior, replacing your shifter ring or upper boot, or shifter itself. When this becomes weak and tears it can not hold an air tight seal allowing fumes into the cabin, excess heat or cold into the cabin. Another issue is direct noise from your driveline and road noise entering the cabin. All of which can be prevented simply with installing good shifter boots and a new retainer ring.
