Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this correct appearance and fit 4 pc inner and outer window felts kit for use on second generation Camaro – Firebird – Trans Am door top glass run, window sweeps set. Direct interchanges on 1970-1981 Camaro & 1970-1981 Firebird / Trans Am and all sub models which DID HAVE the deluxe exterior molding package. Due to this fact these are produced with NO chrome bead as the chrome stainless appearance is from a separate unit which runs along the door and is NOT a part of this weather strip.
These are also great for the client looking to do a chrome delete on their car. AKA “Black out” where they either remove of color reset any chrome to black on the car for a more aggressive modern look.
Replaces OEM part numbers: GM # 9612541, 9612540, 8808230, and 8808231. This new 4 pc kit of door top to window glass squeegee seals ensures a snug, weatherproof fit your door glass and door itself. These do this while maintaining a "soft touch" when opening and closing the doors.
WHY REPLACE THIS WEATHER SEAL? When this seal is missing or damaged water can and will enter the door body and collect at the bottom creating moisture and decay on both the door itself but also on the rear side of the door panels which can be very costly to replace. Damaged seals create window noise, and loss of Heat and A/C efficiency, and lead to much more expensive repairs!
HOW HARD IS IT TO REPLACE? Replacement of the window sweep weather-stripping is a job most owners can do at home. You will remove the door panel itself and readjust the lower window stop to the lowest position. Then you remove the serios of screws holding the outer sweeps into place. Install the new sweep and go. The door panel one will be exchanged by removing the series of staples GM used and either re stapling them into place or by using small set screws in their place. Total time on this job is roughly 2-3 hours.
