Hawks Motorsports offers our clients new injection molded black left and right headliner trim for 1973 – 1981 Camaro Firebird / Trans Am.
For use on cars with solid headliners and cars which are hard top and have the pressed cardboard GM headliner or the reproduction with ABS fabric covered headliner.board. (Not for 70-73 with BOW STYLE headliners) Units have the correct mounting points of 3 nylon clips and at the “Y” the tunnel style hole for Phillip head screw.
WHY REPLACE THESE PANELS? After 50 years factory units fade and deteriorate. Due to the chemical make up of them from GM these begin to crumble on the edges and the texture flakes off. Anyone who rides in your car sees these right out of the gate so replacing the side headliner trims in your F-body is probably on your to do list.
HOW HARD IS IT TO REPLACE? Replacement of the upper side headliner trim panels requires a Phillip head screw driver and a trim clip removal tool. It is a pretty simple job at home. You will loosen the outer headliner trim screws across the front windshield facing headliner trim. Then remove the lower A pillar post screw head bolt (Tucked under the weather seal end cap) Next remove the forward-facing screw at the Y of the headliner left and right side headliner trim. Last using the trim tool pop the 3 Nylon clips that hold the side headliner trims in place along the door openings. The headliner trim can then be flexed downward and removed from the car, install is simply the reverse order.
