Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this Metro Molded Parts second generation Camaro – Firebird – Trans Am Body Hull mounted L/R weather-stripping set. Direct interchanges on 1975 - 1978 Camaro & 1975 - 1978 Firebird / Trans Am and all sub models which were HURST HATCH DESIGN ONE T-TOP models.
This new pair of body hull mounted T-TOP PRIMARY seals ensures a snug, weatherproof fit your door glass and the body tub while maintaining a "soft touch" when opening and closing the doors.
WHY REPLACE THIS WEATHER SEAL? When this seal is missing or damaged water can and will enter the cabin floor pan, or the door frame itself and cause damage to the carpet and door panels. Damaged seals create window noise, and loss of Heat and A/C efficiency.
HOW HARD IS IT TO REPLACE? Replacement of the roof rail weather-stripping is a job most owners can do at home. Simply remove your worn, ripped, or rotted seal, and clean the galley. At the front lower edge of the A pillar there will be either plastic push tabs or a Philips head screw. Remove this and there will be that same set up at the top of door level on the B pillar. Once this hardware is removed pull the weather seal from the channel. Depending on the amount of glue GM used in assembly this can be fast, or quite a task to remove the remaining Once cleaned out lay in the new Metro Molded weather seal and glue into place. Shut the doors with the window rolled to the top most position, if the door glass or window tracks have NOT been taken out of adjustment you should be able to close the doors without issue. Within 48 hours the body hull weather strips will compress to your car's gapping needs. Made from high-quality EPDM materials, the seal has an excellent memory foam and rebound aspect to it. This allows it to gap out to the individual spacing of your car and provide a firm seal. Depending on your situation this can be done in 1-2 hours. If adjustments are needed this can turn into 4 hours labor.
