Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this Metro Molded Parts complete basic Hurst Hatch Design One weather seal kit RKB-2001-116. Now is the time to eliminate wind noise and water leaks on your 1975 - 1979 Camaro Firebird or Trans Am. This kit includes the following seals, (RR 7002-A Hurst Hatch Design 1 Primary Body Hull Weather seals, ELP 7002-A Hurst Hatch Design 1 T-top secondary seals which mount on T-tops, LM-22-B Door Hull seals, and a TK-46-10 Trunk seal). These are the primary weather strips found these cars and the most important. We do offer a wide variety of secondary seals as well though!
WHY REPLACE WEATHER SEALS? When your car’s weather-stripping is missing or damaged water can and will enter the cabin floor pan, trunk pan, or inner door frames. Over time this will cause rust and then rot. When they go bad you will have additional wind noise and issues maintaining climate control inside the cabin. On T-top cars having a tight seal for the T-top to the body is very important. If the seals do not sit tight the handle can vibrate into the open position and the T-top can fly off the car at higher speeds. Owning a Hurst T-top car is a true investment, these were low product and highly sought after F bodies!
HOW HARD IS IT TO REPLACE? Replacement of the basic weather stripping on your Hurst Design 1 T-top car is an afternoon job. Simple tools needed include, phillips head screwdriver, trim clip remover, small scraper, standard socket set. Process to change out is straight forward, remove the old seals, clean out the weather seal retainer channels, and then lay in the new weather seals into the channels and apply the adhesive. For the door frame gaskets, body hull gaskets, trunk seal, and the T-top primary and secondary weather stripping, expect 4-6 hours for a proper installation.

Installation Time and Skill Level:
- Removal and installation time 4 hours - 6 hours. (possible additional time may be required)
- Skill level 5 - Most folks can do at home. Some mechanical understanding required door panel removal, if window is out of adjustment. T-top trim removal, T-top glass panel and Handle removal.
- Tools needed: Standard socket set, Phillips head screw driver, scraper, pick.
