Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following.
This reverse-mount Double-DIN radio installation kit is designed for 1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro models. It replaces the original center dash radio bezel and provides the components needed to install a compatible modern Double-DIN radio above the factory heating and air-conditioning controls.
The reverse-mount configuration places the larger radio opening in the upper position and relocates the factory HVAC control assembly beneath it. This arrangement provides a clean, updated appearance while maintaining access to the original climate controls.
The package includes:
- One reverse-mount Double-DIN radio bezel
- Injection-molded ABS construction
- Black OEM-style textured finish
- CNC-aluminum radio support brackets
- HVAC-control relocation brackets
- HVAC relocation spacers
- Double-DIN radio opening
- Factory-style exterior contours
- Camaro-specific installation configuration
The radio, radio wiring adapter, antenna adapter and other audio-system components are not included.

Reverse-Mount Configuration
In the original Camaro center-dash arrangement, the radio and HVAC controls occupy a compact vertical area designed around period audio equipment.
A modern Double-DIN receiver requires more space than the original radio. The reverse-mount design reorganizes this area by positioning the Double-DIN receiver above the factory HVAC controls.
This configuration is especially useful for touchscreen receivers because it places the display higher in the center dash where it can be easier to view and operate.
The HVAC relocation brackets and spacers position the original climate-control assembly below the radio. The original HVAC controls remain functional when properly installed and adjusted.
Double-DIN Radio Compatibility
Bezel features 3D printed parts with a color and finish similar to the factory plate. Opening in the bezel measures 3.985" x 7.11" for the radio. Radios deeper than 4.5" will interfere with the heat/ac controls, the bezel is best used with shallow head units. Also includes brackets to make the install much easier. Brackets are aluminum which makes the radio more sturdy than plastic. They are slotted so you can make small adjustments to get the radio exactly where you want it, you can move the radio up/down and forward/backward. The brackets include heater/ac control brackets and radio brackets that will locate the radio correctly and the adjustment allows you to position the radio you way you want.
Radio and HVAC Clearance
Installing a Double-DIN receiver in a third-generation Camaro requires careful test-fitting because the original dash was not designed around this larger radio format.
Before final assembly, verify:
- Radio chassis depth
- Rear wiring clearance
- Antenna-connector clearance
- USB and auxiliary-cable routing
- HVAC-control movement
- HVAC cable or vacuum-line routing
- Clearance behind the radio
- Bezel alignment with the surrounding dash
- Screen clearance when using a tilting or motorized display
Do not force the radio or HVAC control assembly into position. Binding controls, sharply bent cables or pinched wiring can cause operational problems.
Factory HVAC Controls
The kit is designed to retain and relocate the Camaro’s original heating and air-conditioning control assembly.
The factory control head, control cables, electrical connectors, vacuum lines and related climate-control components are not replaced by this kit. Their condition should be inspected before installation.
Some vehicles may require adjustment of the HVAC cables or routing to obtain smooth control movement after relocation.

Standard Mount Versus Reverse Mount
This listing is for the reverse-mount version.
- Reverse mount: Double-DIN radio above the HVAC controls
- Standard mount: HVAC controls above the Double-DIN radio
The two versions use different bezel layouts and bracket arrangements. Choose the configuration that provides the desired radio location before ordering.
Installation Information
Professional installation by an experienced automotive-audio technician is recommended.
Before beginning:
- Disconnect the vehicle battery
- Remove the original center dash bezel
- Remove the original radio
- Label the HVAC connections before disconnecting them
- Inspect the surrounding dash structure
- Test-fit the new bezel
- Test-fit the radio between the aluminum brackets
- Position the HVAC relocation brackets and spacers
- Check cable, wiring and connector clearance
- Confirm that every HVAC function operates smoothly
- Verify radio screen and control accessibility
- Complete the electrical connections
- Test the radio before final dash assembly
- Confirm that the bezel sits evenly against the surrounding dash
Permanent trimming or modification should not be completed until the radio, HVAC controls and bezel have been test-fitted together.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is included?
The package includes one reverse-mount Double-DIN radio bezel, radio brackets, HVAC relocation brackets and HVAC relocation spacers.
Is a radio included?
No. The compatible Double-DIN receiver must be purchased separately.
What does reverse mount mean?
Reverse mount places the Double-DIN radio above the factory HVAC controls. The HVAC control assembly is relocated beneath the radio.
Is this the standard-mount version?
No. This listing is specifically for the reverse-mount configuration.
What is the difference between standard and reverse mount?
The reverse version positions the radio above the HVAC controls. The standard version positions the HVAC controls above the radio.
What size radio does the bezel accept?
It is designed for a standard Double-DIN-format radio. Radio chassis depth and rear-connector clearance must still be checked.
Is the bezel injection molded?
Yes. The reverse-mount bezel is manufactured from injection-molded ABS rather than being a basic unfinished 3D-printed bezel.
What are the radio brackets made from?
The radio support brackets are CNC-machined aluminum for a stable installation.
What color is the bezel?
The bezel has a black OEM-style textured finish.
Are the HVAC controls included?
No. The vehicle’s original HVAC control assembly is retained and relocated using the components in the kit.
Does the kit include HVAC relocation components?
Yes. HVAC-control brackets and relocation spacers are included.
Will the original HVAC controls still work?
Yes, when the original control assembly, cables, vacuum lines and electrical connections are in serviceable condition and correctly repositioned.
Will it fit both automatic and manual Camaros?
The radio-bezel application is not determined by the transmission. Verify that the vehicle retains the compatible 1982-1992 Camaro center-dash configuration.
Will it fit a Firebird or Trans Am?
No Firebird or Trans Am application is listed for this Camaro-specific bezel.
Does the kit include a radio wiring adapter?
No. Radio wiring and antenna adapters must be selected for the vehicle and receiver.
Will every Double-DIN receiver fit?
The opening accepts the Double-DIN format, but radio depth and rear-connector placement vary. Measure the selected receiver and test-fit it before completing the installation.
Is professional installation recommended?
Yes. Installation requires repositioning the HVAC controls and carefully checking radio, wiring and dash clearance.
