Standard-Mount Configuration
The standard-mount configuration retains the familiar third-generation Camaro center-dash arrangement by positioning the factory heating and air-conditioning controls above the new Double-DIN receiver.
This layout provides space for a modern touchscreen radio while keeping the HVAC controls in the upper area of the center dash.
The included adjustable brackets support both the radio and factory HVAC control assembly for a secure, properly aligned installation.
Double-DIN Radio Compatibility
The bezel opening measures approximately 3.985 inches high by 7.11 inches wide and is designed to accommodate most standard Double-DIN receivers.
Double-DIN face dimensions are generally standardized, but chassis depth, rear connections, cooling fans and heat sinks vary among radio manufacturers.
Measure the selected receiver and inspect the available space behind the Camaro dashboard before installation. A shallow-mount receiver may provide additional room for wiring and connectors.
-
Shallow-mount friendly – Works best with radios under 4.5" deep to avoid interference with heat/AC controls
Injection-Molded ABS Bezel
The bezel is manufactured from injection-molded ABS plastic and features a black textured surface designed to blend with the surrounding Camaro interior.
Injection molding provides a consistent shape and finished appearance without the prominent print lines commonly associated with basic 3D-printed components.
The black finish can be installed as supplied or refinished using products formulated for automotive interior plastic. Original dashboard colors can fade with age, so compare the bezel with the surrounding trim when an exact color match is important.
Adjustable Aluminum Brackets
The included aluminum brackets support the Double-DIN receiver and allow its position to be adjusted during installation.
Radio placement should be set so that:
- The receiver face is centered in the bezel opening
- The screen sits at the desired depth
- Radio controls remain accessible
- The bezel does not press against the radio face
- Rear connectors have adequate clearance
- The receiver remains securely supported
Complete all alignment and clearance checks before tightening the brackets.
Factory HVAC Controls
SID-005-KIT is designed to retain the Camaro’s original HVAC control assembly above the radio.
The kit does not replace the factory control head, cables, electrical connections or vacuum lines. Inspect these components before installation and confirm that every control operates smoothly after the dash is reassembled.
Some vehicles may require minor adjustment of the HVAC-control position or cable routing to provide adequate clearance for the larger radio chassis.
Fitment / Interchange

Potential applications include compatible Camaro Sport Coupe, Berlinetta, LT, RS, Z28 and IROC-Z models.
The bezel application is not determined by the vehicle’s automatic or manual transmission. Confirm that the vehicle retains a compatible 1982-1992 Camaro center-dash structure.
Standard Mount Versus Reverse Mount
This listing is for the standard-mount version.
- Standard mount: HVAC controls above the Double-DIN radio
- Reverse mount: Double-DIN radio above the HVAC controls
The two configurations use different bezel layouts and bracket arrangements. Select the desired radio and HVAC-control locations before ordering.
The reverse-mount version is available separately under part number SID-006-KIT.
Radio and Dash Clearance
The original Camaro dash was not designed around the larger chassis of a modern Double-DIN receiver. Careful test-fitting is required.
Verify:
- Radio chassis depth
- Rear wiring clearance
- Antenna-connector clearance
- USB and auxiliary-cable routing
- HVAC-control clearance
- HVAC cable and vacuum-line routing
- Clearance around the surrounding dash
- Screen clearance on tilting or motorized receivers
- Accessibility of radio buttons and ports
Do not force the receiver into the dash. Excess pressure can damage the bezel, radio connections or original dashboard components.
Installation Information
Professional installation by an experienced automotive-audio technician is recommended.
Before installation:
- Disconnect the vehicle battery
- Remove the original center dash bezel
- Remove the original radio
- Label the HVAC connections before disconnecting them
- Inspect the original dash structure
- Test-fit the new bezel
- Attach the adjustable brackets to the receiver
- Position the factory HVAC controls above the radio
- Check HVAC cable and connector clearance
- Center the receiver within the bezel opening
- Adjust the radio depth
- Verify that every HVAC function operates smoothly
- Complete the necessary electrical connections
- Test the receiver before final assembly
- Confirm that the bezel sits evenly against the surrounding dash
Do not complete permanent cutting or modification until the bezel, radio and HVAC controls have been test-fitted together.
Follow the receiver manufacturer’s wiring instructions. Previous owners may have modified the vehicle wiring, so wires should not be identified solely by color.
All components are new.
