These rows identify original LT1 donor applications; they do not establish interchange between every donor year. Compare the actual donor year, VIN, engine controls, connectors, cooling and ignition configuration. Special Camaro SS, Firebird WS6, Firehawk and LT4 applications require their own verification. Corvette and full-size GM LT1 donors are outside this F-body specification reference.

Reference figures for standard LT1 Camaro Z28 applications: 275 hp for 1993–1995 and 285 hp for 1996–1997. Special performance packages can carry different ratings. Factory ratings are not a measurement of this used engine’s current output.

LT1 Overview The 1993–1997 GM LT1 5.7L V8 combines the familiar character of a Chevrolet 350 small-block with electronic fuel injection and strong street-performance capability. Its cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder heads in F-body applications, compact pushrod design, and reverse-flow cooling system provide a capable foundation for cruising and performance builds. The cooling system sends coolant through the cylinder heads before the block, helping manage combustion-chamber temperatures.

For a classic-car swap, the LT1 offers traditional small-block power with the benefits of electronically managed fuel delivery. When paired with a properly matched fuel system, wiring harness, engine controller, cooling system, and calibration, it can provide easier starting and consistent throttle response compared with a carbureted setup. Mounting, exhaust clearance, throttle linkage, and transmission compatibility must be matched to the vehicle. Match the controller, harness and calibration to the actual LT1 donor year and supplied transmission. Plan an EFI-compatible fuel system, cable-operated throttle linkage, reverse-flow cooling connections, engine mounts, oil-pan clearance, accessories and exhaust around the vehicle. Inspect the OptiSpark connections and water-pump area for condition and leaks before installation. Confirm transmission clearance, mounting, driveshaft connection and clutch or torque-converter requirements for your actual combination. Which transmission and related pieces come with this package?

The LT1 engine components and other related pieces are supplied only when listed in This Product Includes.

Can this package be used in a classic Camaro, Firebird or Trans Am?

It can be used in a properly planned conversion. Verify mounting, oil-pan and exhaust clearance, fuel delivery, wiring, engine controls, throttle linkage, reverse-flow cooling and drivetrain requirements for your actual vehicle. A donor application is not a promise of direct fitment.

Can I order a new harness for this donor and transmission?

The original GM harness is excluded under the package policy. Ask sales about available new harnesses matched to the actual engine year, controller and transmission. Additional charges apply; option availability must be confirmed for this package.

Are the stock power figures a dyno result for this engine?

No. The figures are historical factory reference ratings for standard Camaro Z28 applications, not measured output of this used engine. Special donor packages, modifications and condition can change output. Contact Hawks for available used GM parts, performance upgrades and tuning services.
