Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following: new reproduction driver-side bullet exterior mirror mounting kit for the 1970-1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird, OER part #R313.
Complete the installation of a factory-style driver-side bullet or sport exterior mirror with this application-specific mounting kit. The components install between the mirror base and driver-side door, securing the mirror while the molded gasket helps separate the mirror base from the painted door surface.
OER #R313 includes the driver-side mirror mounting bracket, molded base gasket, mirror-to-bracket screws and bracket-to-door screws. It is suitable for installing a replacement bullet mirror or replacing missing, damaged, corroded or mismatched mounting components.
This kit is designed specifically for the left-hand driver side. The complete exterior mirror and its remote-control components are sold separately.

- One driver-side bullet-mirror mounting bracket

- Bracket-to-door screws
The complete exterior mirror, mirror glass, remote-control cable, adjustment knob and interior control bezel are not included.
Driver-Side Application
Part #R313 is designed for the left-hand driver-side mirror.
The driver-side mounting bracket differs from the corresponding passenger-side component. Using the correct side-specific bracket helps position the mirror base against the door and align the retaining screws with the appropriate mounting points.
For the corresponding right-hand passenger-side bullet-mirror mounting kit, use OER part #R312.
- Driver side: OER #R313
- Passenger side: OER #R312
Remote Bullet Mirror Applications
The driver-side bullet or sport mirror used on many of the listed vehicles incorporates a mechanical remote-control system. The cable assembly passes through the door and connects the mirror to an adjustment control inside the passenger compartment.
OER #R313 mounts the exterior mirror to the door. It does not replace the mirror’s remote-control cable, adjustment mechanism, control knob or interior bezel.
Before installation, inspect the complete remote-mirror assembly for:
- Damaged or kinked control cables
- Loose cable connections
- Seized mirror movement
- Missing adjustment controls
- Damaged interior bezel
- Cracked mirror housing
- Loose or damaged glass
Complete any necessary mirror or remote-control repairs before permanently installing the mounting kit.
Bullet Mirror Compatibility
This kit is intended for the body-colored bullet or sport exterior mirror used on applicable Chevrolet, Pontiac and Oldsmobile models.
It should not be confused with components used for a standard chrome exterior mirror. Bullet mirrors use a different base shape, gasket and door-mounting arrangement.
Before installation, compare:
- Mirror-base shape
- Mounting-bracket shape
- Gasket profile
- Screw locations
- Door-mounting points
- Driver-side orientation
- Remote-cable routing where applicable
Test-fit the bracket and gasket with the mirror before completing installation.

Installation Notes
Remove the existing mirror carefully to avoid damaging the mirror housing, remote-control cable, door sheet metal or surrounding paint.
Before installation:
- Compare the new bracket and gasket with the mirror base.
- Confirm that the kit is being installed on the driver side.
- Inspect the door-mounting area for previous repairs or enlarged holes.
- Check the remote-control cable and mirror adjustment before installation.
- Route the remote cable without sharp bends or kinks where applicable.
- Position the molded gasket against the door.
- Verify that the gasket follows the mirror-base and door contours.
- Position the mounting bracket inside the appropriate door location.
- Start each screw by hand to prevent cross-threading.
- Align the mirror before gradually tightening the screws.
- Tighten the screws evenly.
- Confirm that the mirror sits securely without distorting the gasket.
- Test the remote adjustment before completing reassembly.
Do not overtighten the screws. Excessive force can distort the gasket, damage the mirror base or affect the surrounding door surface.
Consult the appropriate factory body or service manual when removing interior door components and routing the mirror-control cable.
Care and Inspection
Inspect the mirror periodically for looseness, especially after initial installation.
Confirm that the gasket remains seated evenly around the mirror base. A displaced or damaged gasket can allow the mirror base to contact the painted door surface.
Check that the remote-control cable moves smoothly without binding. Do not force the adjustment control if the mirror glass does not respond normally.
When washing the vehicle, avoid directing high-pressure water beneath the mirror base. Dry the area around the gasket to prevent moisture and debris from collecting between the mirror and door.
