This 14-piece retainer-nut set is designed for compatible 1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird and Pontiac Trans Am inner door panel top rails.
The retainers secure the upper inner door panel top rails to the door panel boards. They are useful when the original retainers are missing, damaged or unsuitable for reuse during door-panel restoration.
Each package contains seven retainers for the driver-side top rail and seven for the passenger-side top rail. This listing includes the retainer nuts only.

Inner Door Panel Top Rail Application
These retainers are used on the studs that extend through the door panel board from the upper inner door panel top rail. Once installed from the rear of the panel, they hold the top rail against the door panel board.
They are intended for compatible top rails equipped with seven mounting studs per side. The retainers are not side-specific.

Before installation, verify that all 14 top-rail studs are intact and that their size and shape match the replacement retainers. Previously repaired or modified door panels and top rails may require individual evaluation.

Confirm the number, condition, size and shape of the installed top-rail studs before ordering. These retainers should not be selected solely by vehicle model year when the door panels or top rails have been replaced or modified.
Remove the interior door panel and work from its rear side to access the upper top rail retainers.
- Carefully remove the existing retainers without twisting or breaking the plastic top-rail studs
- Inspect every mounting stud for cracks, damage or previous modification
- Position the rail studs through the corresponding openings in the door panel board
- Press one retainer onto each undamaged stud from the rear of the panel
- Support the surrounding panel board while installing each retainer
- Avoid excessive force when working with aged plastic studs or weakened panel-board material
- Confirm that the top rail sits evenly and securely across the door panel
- Reinstall the completed door panel and verify proper alignment
Do not install a retainer on a broken or incompatible stud. These retainers will not restore the strength of a damaged top rail or repair deteriorated door panel board material.
