Fitment note: The vehicle application is 1982–1992. The 1993–2002 reference identifies compatible master cylinder components used in the conversion, not additional chassis fitment. This template is not suitable for the early Z-bar clutch configuration, including factory four-speed 1982–1984 cars. Verify the selected master cylinder, pedal assembly and firewall alignment before cutting.
- One clutch master cylinder firewall cut template.
An automatic-equipped car needs a firewall opening when adding a hydraulic clutch master cylinder during a manual transmission conversion. This template provides a marking reference for that part of the project. Its center opening and two outer locations establish the areas to mark; final fit must be checked against the components selected for the car.
The installation guide is arranged around fourth-generation-style hydraulic master cylinder kits. The product record also lists compatibility with 1985–1992 master cylinders. For an OEM master cylinder, the product record recommends starting with a slightly smaller center opening and checking fit as the opening is finished.

- Read the linked PDF and review the installation video before beginning. Pull back the driver footwell carpet and sound-deadening layers to expose the firewall area.
- Use the left and bottom steering column firewall flange bolt locations to position the template. The flat side faces the rear of the car. Tighten only lightly to avoid damaging the template.
- Check that the template sits fairly flush. Mark the center opening and two outer holes, then remove the template and reinstall the steering column bolts as directed in the guide.
- Install the pedal assembly and verify alignment with the intended master cylinder before cutting or drilling. Confirm clearance on both sides of the work area.
- Size the opening and mounting holes for the selected master cylinder. Protect the surrounding area from metal shavings and coat exposed bare metal after cutting.
Check before cutting: Vehicle and component variations can affect alignment. Confirm the template position and pedal-to-master-cylinder relationship on your car before making permanent firewall changes.

What does this template help me mark?
It helps locate the hydraulic clutch master cylinder firewall opening and its two outer mounting holes using the factory steering column mounting holes as references.
Can I use it on a 1982–1984 car?
Yes, for an originally automatic car being converted to a hydraulic clutch. Factory four-speed cars with the early Z-bar arrangement are excluded.
Which master cylinder styles are listed as compatible?
The product record lists 1985–1992 and 1993–2002 Camaro / Firebird hydraulic clutch master cylinders, plus Hawks fourth-generation-style aftermarket units. Confirm the selected unit against the template and pedal assembly.
Which pedal assemblies have been checked?
The supplier reports checking third-generation, fourth-generation and Hawks pedal assemblies. Verify alignment on the individual vehicle before cutting.
Should I cut the full center opening immediately?
Check the intended master cylinder first. For an OEM unit, the product record recommends beginning with a slightly smaller center opening and adjusting it as fit is checked. Review the linked PDF and video before proceeding.
