Product Description:

gm-logo.jpg

Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following OER dark blue metallic Z28 rocker panel emblem for the 1986-1987 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, part #20615650.

This GM-licensed reproduction replaces a faded, cracked, damaged or missing original lower rocker panel emblem. It is manufactured from injection-molded ABS plastic and features a clear insert designed to reproduce the original emblem’s appearance.

The face uses the correct Z28 lettering style with a metallic blue tri-color fade progressing from dark to light. This color and model-year combination is important because several similar Camaro Z28 rocker emblems were used during the 1980s.

Sold Individually

This listing includes one rocker panel emblem.

The Camaro uses one emblem per side, so two emblems are required to replace both the driver- and passenger-side rocker panel emblems.

Important Model-Year Distinction

Part #20615650 is the dark blue metallic rocker panel emblem for 1986-1987 Camaro Z28 models.

The visually similar dark blue emblem for the 1985 Camaro Z28 is OER part #20544119. These two part numbers should not be combined into a single 1985-1987 application.

This emblem should not be assumed correct for:

  • 1985 Camaro Z28
  • Camaro Sport Coupe
  • Camaro Berlinetta
  • Camaro RS
  • Camaro IROC-Z without verification of its original emblem configuration
  • Vehicles originally equipped with gray, silver, gold, red or another emblem color
  • Rear body-panel or hatch emblems

Restoration Uses

This emblem is appropriate for:

  • Replacing a missing original rocker panel emblem
  • Replacing a faded or sun-damaged emblem
  • Replacing a cracked or cloudy clear insert
  • Completing a lower rocker panel restoration
  • Restoring the original Z28 exterior identification
  • Finishing repaired or refinished rocker-panel ground effects

Installation Notes

Before removing the original emblem, photograph and measure its position on the rocker panel. Record its height, alignment and distance from nearby body lines so the replacement can be positioned correctly.

Remove the original emblem carefully to avoid damaging the rocker panel or surrounding finish. Clean away dirt, wax, polish and old installation residue using products safe for automotive paint and exterior trim.

Compare the reverse side of the replacement emblem with the original before installation. OER’s published description does not specify the attachment method for part #20615650, so do not drill, alter the rocker panel or apply an unverified adhesive until the vehicle’s original configuration has been inspected.

Test-position the emblem and confirm its orientation before completing installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this listing include?
The listing includes one OER dark blue metallic Z28 rocker panel emblem.

How many emblems are required per Camaro?
Two are required to replace both sides of the vehicle. Order a quantity of two for a complete driver- and passenger-side replacement.

Does the emblem fit either side?
Yes. OER sells it as an individual rocker panel emblem rather than a side-specific component.

What years does OER 20615650 fit?
OER catalogs it specifically for 1986 and 1987 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 models.

Does it fit a 1985 Camaro Z28?
No. The corresponding dark blue emblem for the 1985 Camaro Z28 is OER part #20544119.

Is this correct for every 1986-1987 Camaro?
No. It is intended for the Z28 application using the dark blue metallic rocker emblem. Base, Berlinetta, RS and other trim or color configurations may require a different emblem.

Will it fit an IROC-Z?
Do not assume compatibility based only on the model year. Compare the original emblem style and color with part #20615650 before ordering for an IROC-Z.

Where does this emblem install?
It installs on the lower exterior rocker panel area. It is not a rear panel, hatch, wheel-center or interior emblem.

What color is the emblem?
It features a dark blue metallic tri-color design that fades from darker to lighter blue.

What material is it made from?
The emblem is manufactured from injection-molded ABS plastic with a clear plastic insert.

Is this a genuine original GM emblem?
It is an OER reproduction manufactured as an officially licensed GM Restoration Parts product. It is not described as new-old-stock GM production.
