Serpentine Belt-Routing Diagram
The printed diagram provides a convenient underhood reference for routing the single serpentine belt around the applicable engine accessories.
A belt routed incorrectly can cause improper accessory rotation, insufficient belt engagement, noise, belt damage or loss of accessory operation. Always compare the decal with the vehicle’s actual pulley arrangement and the correct factory service information before installing a belt.
This label is a routing reference only. It does not specify belt length, tensioner condition or pulley alignment.
Upper Fan-Shroud Placement
The factory-style installation location is on the upper radiator fan shroud, where the routing diagram remains visible during inspection and belt service.
For the most accurate restoration appearance:
- Document the original label position before removal
- Compare the reproduction with surviving adhesive marks
- Review reference photographs from the same model year and engine
- Align the decal squarely with the fan-shroud surface
Replacement fan shrouds, engine conversions and modified cooling systems may not retain the original label location.

Original-Part Reference
HM10105278 is the inventory number for this reproduction decal and references original GM number 10105278.
An original label may become unreadable because of:
- Engine heat
- Chemical exposure
- Oil or coolant contamination
- Sunlight
- Fan-shroud replacement
- Repeated cleaning
- Normal age-related deterioration
This reproduction restores the general wording, routing illustration and appearance of the original label. It is not an original GM or New Old Stock decal.
Engine and Accessory-Drive Verification
Before ordering, compare the vehicle with the product photographs and verify:
- The vehicle has a V8 engine
- The engine uses a single serpentine accessory belt
- The pulley arrangement remains factory-style
- The upper fan shroud provides the correct label location
- No engine-swap brackets have altered the belt path
- No accessories have been added or removed
Air-conditioning equipment, emissions components and other installed accessories can affect belt routing. Use the proper service information for the vehicle’s exact configuration whenever a routing difference is present.
Surface Preparation
For proper adhesion:
- Allow the engine compartment to cool
- Remove loose dirt from the fan shroud
- Clean away oil, grease and silicone-based dressing
- Remove loose adhesive residue from the old decal
- Avoid scratching or gouging the shroud
- Allow the surface to dry completely
- Test-position the new decal before exposing the adhesive
Do not apply the decal over a peeling original label, loose residue, heavy texture, oil contamination or a damaged shroud surface.
Installation Information
Before installation:
- Photograph the original decal position when possible
- Compare the reproduction with the original label
- Confirm that the routing diagram matches the vehicle
- Measure the intended position
- Clean and dry the upper fan shroud
- Test-position the decal with its backing attached
- Verify the orientation and alignment
- Peel back a small portion of the backing
- Apply the decal gradually from one side to the other
- Use light, even pressure to reduce trapped air
- Press along the complete perimeter
- Allow the adhesive time to establish before cleaning the area
Do not stretch the decal during application. Attempting to reposition it after firm contact may damage the printed surface or reduce adhesion.
