Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following Texas Speed & Performance Chopacabra LS Truck Camshaft Kit featuring the TSP-CHOPacabra low-lift truck camshaft together with SP011-16 LS6-style beehive valve springs, VS LS HAT KIT valve seals, and OE7400-16 7.400-inch stock-replacement pushrods.
Texas Speed specifies the TSP Chopacabra camshaft at 214/222 duration, .550"/.550" valve lift, 108-degree LSA, and 106-degree ICL. Designed for compatible 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, and 6.0L LS engine combinations using cathedral-port cylinder heads, the Chopacabra delivers the aggressive, noticeably choppy idle character that has made this camshaft a popular choice for LS-powered truck applications.
Texas Speed lists an operating range of 1200-6500 RPM and a desired compression ratio of 9.5:1 or greater. According to Texas Speed, an aftermarket stall converter is not required, making the Chopacabra factory-converter friendly, and upgraded rear gearing is not required.
Texas Speed reports a dyno-tested increase of 67 horsepower and 26 lb-ft of torque at the crank over the tested stock camshaft combination. The published test combination used a stock Gen IV 5.3L engine with stock 862 cylinder heads, LS6-style valve springs, and a TBSS intake manifold. Actual power gains will vary depending on the engine combination, intake, exhaust, calibration, vehicle configuration, and supporting components.
The included SP011-16 LS6-style single beehive valve springs are rated for applications up to .560-inch valve lift, providing the upgraded spring capacity required for the Chopacabra's .550-inch valve lift.
The included VS LS HAT KIT provides hat-style valve seals for compatible LS applications using single beehive, stock-style, or compatible conical valve spring configurations.
Also included are OE7400-16 stock-replacement pushrods, featuring a 7.400-inch length and 5/16-inch diameter. Proper pushrod length should always be verified during engine assembly, particularly when cylinder heads, lifters, head gaskets, valve seats, or other valvetrain geometry has been changed.
