Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following.
This universal fuel-pump access panel kit creates a removable service opening above a top-mounted electric fuel-pump assembly. Once properly installed, the cover can be removed for pump inspection, service or replacement without lowering the fuel tank.
The system combines a thick steel tap plate with threaded holes and a removable black-anodized aluminum cover. It is intended for custom installation in a suitable trunk or floor pan and is not a vehicle-specific bolt-in panel.

Universal does not mean that the kit installs without fabrication. Confirm the fuel-pump location, tank clearance, floor shape, structural supports, wiring, fuel lines and surrounding components before cutting.

- One black-anodized aluminum access-panel cover
- One steel tap plate with threaded holes
- Sixteen stainless 1/4"-20 button-head screws
- Manufacturer installation instructions

Service Access Without Lowering the Tank
The removable cover provides access to a correctly positioned top-mounted fuel-pump assembly. This can simplify later pump inspection, wiring diagnosis or replacement because the fuel tank does not normally have to be lowered solely to reach the pump.
9 x 9-Inch Clear Opening
The stated 9 x 9-inch measurement describes the clear inner service opening. It should not be interpreted as the complete outside dimensions of the cover or steel tap plate.
Steel Tap Plate
The 1/4-inch-thick steel plate provides the threaded attachment points for the removable cover. Manufacturer instructions allow the plate to be positioned above or below the vehicle surface and secured by perimeter welding or plug welding according to the installation.
Black-Anodized Aluminum Cover
The 1/8-inch-thick aluminum cover is finished in black anodizing and retained by sixteen stainless button-head screws. Removing these screws provides access through the welded tap plate.
Important Application Notes
- Universal fabrication component; not a model-specific direct replacement
- Designed for service access to a top-mounted electric fuel pump
- The 9 x 9-inch specification is the clear inner opening
- Requires cutting and welding of the vehicle floor or trunk pan
- The fuel-pump center must be accurately located before cutting
- Check for fuel lines, wiring, exhaust components and structural reinforcements
- Professional fabrication is recommended when the installer is not experienced with automotive sheet metal and fuel-system safety

- Read the complete manufacturer instructions before beginning.
- Make the vehicle safe for fuel-system and welding work according to proper service procedures.
- Locate the exact center of the top-mounted fuel pump from above and below the vehicle.
- Inspect both sides of the proposed opening for the tank, fuel lines, wiring and structural components.
- Use the steel tap plate as the pattern for the required floor opening.
- Position the tap plate above or below the sheet-metal surface as required by the installation.
- Weld the tap plate securely using the appropriate plug-weld or perimeter-weld method.
- Protect the repaired metal against corrosion and verify that no debris remains near the fuel system.
- Install the aluminum cover using the supplied stainless button-head screws.
- Apply an appropriate anti-seize compound to the stainless screw threads as directed by the manufacturer.
Cutting or welding near a fuel tank can create a severe fire or explosion hazard. The fuel system must be made safe before work begins. Do not cut into an unidentified floor area or weld near fuel vapor.

Is this a direct-fit access panel for a specific vehicle?
No. It is a universal fabrication component. The installer must determine whether the vehicle provides a suitable location above the fuel pump.
Is the complete cover nine inches square?
The verified 9 x 9-inch specification is the clear inner service opening, not the complete outside measurement of the cover or tap plate.
Does the steel plate bolt into the vehicle floor?
No. The steel tap plate is welded to the vehicle. The black-anodized aluminum cover then bolts to the threaded holes in that plate.
Can the fuel pump be serviced without removing the tank?
Yes, when the panel is correctly centered over a top-mounted pump and the vehicle provides enough clearance to remove the pump assembly through the opening.
How many cover screws are supplied?
The kit contains sixteen stainless 1/4"-20 button-head screws for attaching the removable aluminum cover to the welded tap plate.
