Hawks Motorsports is proud to offer our clients this : 1970-1981 Camaro, Firebird, Esprit, Formula, and Trans Am 1-5/16-Inch Solid Red Front Sway Bar from UMI Performance.

UMI Performance #4067-R is an extra-heavy-duty front sway bar engineered for aggressive street, Pro-Touring, autocross, road-course, and corner-carving applications. It fits applicable 1970-1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird models retaining factory-style front sway-bar mounting locations.

Measuring 1-5/16 inches, or approximately 33.3mm, in diameter, #4067-R is the larger and more aggressive version of UMI’s popular 1-1/4-inch front sway bar. Its increased diameter provides greater resistance to body roll, helping the vehicle remain flatter and more controlled during hard cornering and rapid directional changes.

Each bar is manufactured from solid 4140 chromoly steel and CNC-bent to provide consistent geometry, strength, and alignment with the vehicle’s factory-style suspension locations. Its one-piece, fixed-rate design delivers predictable performance without requiring external adjustments.

The standard #4067-R package includes polyurethane frame bushings, OE-style frame clamps, and polyurethane-bushing end-link assemblies. The included standard-mount configuration provides a direct replacement arrangement for properly equipped vehicles.

For applications requiring upgraded frame mounts, UMI #90066 billet-aluminum mounts are available separately. These mounts are specifically sized for the 1-5/16-inch, 33.3mm sway bar.

UMI #2649 poly and rod-end-style links are also compatible when the vehicle is equipped with UMI lower control arms featuring the required double-shear sway-bar mounting provisions.

The bright-red powder-coated finish provides a durable, corrosion-resistant surface and the signature UMI Performance appearance. UMI manufactures, tests, and races its suspension components in the USA using North American-sourced materials.

Because #4067-R is an aggressive performance sway bar, the vehicle’s complete suspension combination should be considered. Springs, shocks, rear sway bar, tires, alignment, ride height, vehicle weight, and intended use will all affect the resulting handling balance.

6. INSTALLATION NOTES

  • Review the instructions supplied with the product before beginning installation.
  • Park the vehicle on a solid, level surface.
  • Safely raise and support the vehicle using properly rated lifting equipment.
  • Never work beneath a vehicle supported only by a hydraulic jack.
  • Remove the original front sway bar, frame clamps, frame bushings, and end links.
  • Clean rust, scale, grease, and road debris from the frame mounting areas.
  • Inspect the frame locations for damaged threads, cracks, deformation, or previous repairs.
  • Compare the orientation of the original sway bar with the new bar before positioning it.
  • Position the polyurethane frame bushings at the correct locations on the sway bar.
  • Use only lubricant approved for polyurethane components when lubrication is specified.
  • Position the OE-style clamps at the factory frame locations.
  • Initially leave the frame clamps loose enough to allow the sway bar to be centered.
  • Assemble both end links before completing final tightening.
  • Center the sway bar from side to side.
  • Confirm that both ends of the bar have adequate suspension, steering, brake-line, wheel, and tire clearance.
  • Evaluate the end-link position with the vehicle resting at normal ride height.
  • End-link washers should cup toward the polyurethane bushings.
  • Do not grease the polyurethane end-link bushings unless specifically directed by their manufacturer.
  • Tighten the end links only until the polyurethane bushings begin to bulge slightly.
  • Do not crush or excessively compress the end-link bushings.
  • Modified ride height or suspension geometry may require different-length end links.
  • Rotate the steering completely from side to side after installation.
  • Inspect the sway bar for contact with the center link, tie rods, idler arm, brake lines, lower control arms, oil pan, wheels, and tires.
  • Inspect clearance through the suspension’s normal range of travel.
  • If steering interference is present, evaluate UMI #3068 forward-relocation spacers.
  • UMI #3068 moves the frame mounting position forward approximately 0.600 inch.
  • UMI #3068 does not increase wheel or tire clearance.
  • Recheck all connections, bushing positions, and clearances following the initial road test.
  • Periodically inspect the sway-bar system, especially on vehicles used for autocross, road-course, or competition driving.
