Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1982-1983 Camaro Z28 “Cross-Fire Injection” Front Fender or Rear Bumper Decal, Black or Silver, Phoenix Graphix 8283CFI.

This reproduction decal restores the distinctive “Cross-Fire Injection” engine identification used on early third-generation Camaro Z28 models equipped with the optional 5.0-liter LU5 Cross-Fire Injection V8. The factory LU5 system used two diagonally positioned throttle-body injection units and was offered in the Camaro during this early third-generation period.

Designed with the correct-style lettering and proportions, the decal can be used on the lower front-fender area or rear bumper fascia, depending on the original vehicle application. Camaro restoration catalogs identify the same decal configuration for the bumper and both front-fender locations.

This product is sold individually. Customers replacing decals on both sides of the vehicle or restoring multiple locations must order the required quantity. It is not a pair and does not include the main Z28 stripe package, Z28 emblems, hood graphics or additional engine-designation decals.

Phoenix Graphix lists black and silver for the broader 1982-1983 application without providing a year-specific color division. For a concours-level restoration, customers should compare the replacement decal with the vehicle’s remaining original graphic or documented factory color before ordering.

INSTALLATION NOTES

  1. Remove the old decal and all remaining adhesive.
  2. Wash and dry the application area thoroughly.
  3. Remove wax, silicone, grease, polishing compound, road film and other contaminants.
  4. Use a lint-free cloth with an appropriate pre-application cleaner or a small amount of isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Install indoors or in a shaded, dust-free and wind-free environment.
  6. Phoenix Graphix recommends an application temperature between approximately 70°F and 90°F.
  7. Do not install the decal in direct sunlight.
  8. Allow fresh paint to cure before applying the decal.
  9. Measure the original location or photograph the existing decal before removal.
  10. Test-position the new decal before removing the backing.
  11. Confirm that the lettering is level and correctly spaced.
  12. Apply even pressure across the decal without stretching the vinyl.
