Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following.
Integrate an LSX engine swap into your 1982–1992 Chevrolet Camaro / Pontiac Firebird with an application-specific conversion wiring harness. This custom harness conversion uses your vehicle’s factory harness and the factory harness from the donor LSX engine. Listed engine applications include LS1, LS2, LS3, LSA and LS9, with the final harness configured around your submitted build details.
Before your harness can be configured: Send both original harnesses to Hawks Motorsports with the completed Harness Information Sheet. Photos show representative harnesses and an example installation; connectors, branches and layout vary by application.

Fitment note: This is a custom conversion for the third-generation Camaro / Firebird platform. Confirm the donor engine, PCM, transmission, injector / MAF arrangement, accessories and desired vehicle functions with Hawks before submission. The installation guide assumes a passenger-side battery and F-body accessories; discuss other layouts before the harness is configured.
- One application-specific LSX conversion harness, modified using the supplied vehicle and donor-engine factory harnesses
- Black split loom covering on the configured harness
Required customer submission: Include both original harnesses and a fully completed Harness Information Sheet. Record the vehicle and engine years, PCM information, original and planned transmission type, fan arrangement, A/C and cruise-control plans, injector / MAF style and other requested build details.
The harness is configured to connect the donor LSX engine wiring with the recipient vehicle’s electrical system. Black split loom protects and organizes the wiring branches. The finished layout depends on the original harnesses and the information provided for your specific conversion.
The system is prepared to simplify installation, but the guide identifies connections the installer must complete for the applicable vehicle functions. Confirm power feeds, grounds, fan operation and any cruise-control, A/C, vehicle-speed or fuel-pump connections against the supplied guide and your actual build.
Published build estimates: Standard LS1 configurations are listed at approximately 3–4 weeks; other LSX configurations are listed at approximately 10 weeks. Confirm the current schedule with Hawks when arranging your harness conversion.
Complete the information sheet before shipping your original harnesses. Answer every applicable question and include the sheet with the submission so the requested configuration is documented.

- Disconnect battery power before handling or installing the wiring. Lay out the harness and identify the connectors for your actual engine, PCM and vehicle.
- Route wiring clear of exhaust heat and moving components. Follow the guide’s passenger-side battery / F-body accessory layout unless a different arrangement has been confirmed for your build.
- Mount the fuse panel and secure its ground as directed. Identify the labeled constant-power lead and complete the guide’s power connections before restoring battery power.
- Complete the applicable cruise-control, A/C, vehicle-speed and fuel-pump connections using the guide and the correct vehicle wiring information. Vehicles originally equipped with a carburetor require the fuel-pump wiring arrangement described in the guide.
- Confirm the fan arrangement. The guide describes dual-fan wiring and a specific single-fan conversion procedure requiring the stated fuse arrangement and ECM configuration. Verify the completed circuits and routing before startup.
Do I need to send my original harnesses?
Yes. Hawks requires the factory harness from your vehicle and the factory harness from the donor LSX engine, together with the completed information sheet.
Which LSX engines are listed for this conversion?
The product lists LS1, LS2, LS3, LSA and LS9 applications. Confirm the specific engine, PCM, transmission and accessory combination before the harness is configured.
Is every connection plug-and-play?
Some connections must be completed by the installer, and application-specific modifications may be necessary. Review the guide, including its battery-location and accessory-layout assumptions.
Will the delivered harness look exactly like the photos?
The photos are reference examples. The connector arrangement, wire branches and overall layout vary with the original harnesses and the details of your conversion.
How long does the conversion take?
Published estimates are approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard LS1 harness and approximately 10 weeks for other LSX configurations. Confirm the current build schedule with Hawks.
