This black powder-coated transmission crossmember supports a 4L60 automatic in 1984-1992 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird Gen V LT conversions. The application-specific support is designed around Hawks engine-mount geometry and the transmission-mount position of the named gearbox.

This crossmember is intended for the 4L60 automatic case and mount position; other transmission versions use different support geometry.

- Mock up the Gen V LT engine and 4L60 in the chassis.
- Confirm the engine-mount system and transmission position.
- Support the transmission safely before removing any existing support.
- Test-position the crossmember and inspect tunnel, pan and exhaust clearance.
- Measure driveline angle, driveshaft length and shifter or linkage alignment.
- Complete final tightening and recheck clearances at ride height.

Can another transmission version use the same crossmember?
Do not assume so. Hawks lists separate crossmembers because transmission cases and mount positions differ.
What should be measured during mock-up?
Check the transmission case, tunnel, pan, driveshaft, driveline angle, exhaust and control-system clearances.
Can a previously repaired vehicle differ from stock?
Yes. Compare the existing mounting area carefully when prior work is visible.
When should installation stop?
Stop if the component must be forced or the stated configuration does not match the vehicle.
