The TREMEC TKX RestoFit® 5-Speed Conversion Kit provides a modern manual transmission upgrade for 1988-2006 Chevrolet and GMC C-Series trucks. Designed for street-driven trucks and performance builds, this kit combines compact packaging, increased drivetrain strength, and overdrive cruising capability while maintaining excellent drivability.
The TREMEC TKX transmission is capable of handling up to 600 lb-ft of torque and supports high RPM shifting up to 7,500 RPM. Its compact rounded case design helps reduce or eliminate transmission tunnel modifications, making it an excellent solution for upgrading classic and OBS-era GM trucks with modern 5-speed performance.

TECHNICAL OVERVIEW
The TREMEC TKX 5-Speed manual transmission provides improved performance, fuel economy, and highway cruising compared to traditional non-overdrive manual transmissions. The compact transmission case design allows improved installation flexibility while maintaining the strength required for modern performance applications.
The TKX is available with wide ratio or close ratio gearing options to match different driving styles and engine combinations.
TREMEC TKX gear ratios:
- Wide Ratio: 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.00, 0.72
- Close Ratio: 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00, 0.68 OR 0.81
The TKX transmission provides reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), lower highway RPM, and improved drivability for daily street use. The transmission can be configured for mechanical or hydraulic clutch operation by changing external components without requiring transmission disassembly.
