Product Description:

made-in-the-usa.jpg

Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following.

This ACC molded replacement carpet is designed for 1994-2002 Pontiac Firebird convertibles equipped with a factory center console. It fits compatible Firebird, Formula and Trans Am convertible models.

The one-piece cut-pile carpet features factory-style mass backing, a center-console split and separate jute insulation padding.

The package includes:

  • One-piece molded cut-pile convertible carpet
  • Approximately 45-mil EVA mass backing
  • Separate jute insulation padding
  • Factory-center-console split
  • Selected carpet color
  • No separate driver-side heel pad

Floor mats are not included.

This carpet covers the front and rear passenger-compartment floor area. The convertible uses a different floor-pan and carpet configuration from hardtop and T-top Firebird models.

Model-Year Clarification

The existing catalog title describes this application as 1993-2002. However, the fourth-generation Firebird convertible was introduced during the 1994 model year.

The production-vehicle application is therefore:

  • 1994-2002 Pontiac Firebird convertible

There was no production 1993 fourth-generation Firebird convertible.

Factory-Style Mass Backing

Mass backing is an approximately 45-mil-thick layer of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate bonded to the underside of the molded carpet.

Compared with standard lightweight backing, mass backing provides:

  • Greater structure and rigidity
  • Improved retention of the molded contours
  • Additional sound control
  • Additional heat insulation
  • A heavier, more substantial feel
  • A smoother finished appearance after installation

Mass backing became common in later-model factory automotive carpet applications. This makes the mass-backed version the closest available ACC configuration to the heavier factory-style carpet construction associated with this production period.

The jute insulation padding is supplied separately. Install the padding against the floor pan before positioning the molded carpet.

Convertible-Specific Carpet Pattern

This carpet is molded for the fourth-generation Firebird convertible floor pan. Convertible models have structural and interior-floor differences that require a different carpet pattern from hardtop and T-top coupes.

This carpet does not fit:

  • Firebird hardtop coupes
  • Firebird T-top coupes
  • Formula coupes
  • Trans Am coupes
  • Firehawk coupes

Coupe models require the corresponding coupe-specific molded carpet.

Console-Split Design

The carpet includes a center split for vehicles equipped with the factory center console.

The console must be removed before installation so the carpet can be centered over the transmission tunnel and positioned correctly against the molded floor-pan contours.

The console split is not a completely finished installation opening. Final openings for the shifter, console, seats, seat belts and related interior components must be carefully cut during installation.

The carpet can be used with compatible automatic- and manual-transmission vehicles. The installer must position and trim the shifter opening for the vehicle’s original transmission and console configuration.

Carpet Color Selection

This carpet is available in multiple ACC automotive carpet colors. Select the desired color from the current ordering menu.

Common fourth-generation Firebird interior colors include variations of:

  • Ebony Black
  • Graphite
  • Medium Gray
  • Medium Beige
  • Flame Red
  • Light Mocha
  • Opal
  • Pewter
  • Medium Neutral
  • Medium Sand Gray

Color availability and factory usage varied by year, model and interior trim.

Do not rely solely on the color name when selecting replacement carpet. Factory terminology, production variations, fading, previous refinishing and earlier carpet replacement can affect the appearance of the existing interior.

If an exact match is important, compare an ACC carpet sample with an original area protected from sunlight. Computer monitors, mobile-device displays and photography lighting can make carpet colors appear different.

Fitment / Interchange

  • 1994-2002 Pontiac Firebird convertible
  • Firebird Base convertible
  • Firebird Formula convertible
  • Pontiac Trans Am convertible
  • 1994 Trans Am GT convertible
  • Compatible Trans Am WS6 convertible applications
  • Factory-center-console vehicles
  • Automatic-transmission vehicles
  • Manual-transmission vehicles
  • Does not fit hardtop or T-top coupes

Trim-level availability varied by model year. Confirm the complete year, model, body style and interior color before ordering.

Carpet Construction

The automotive-grade cut-pile carpet is heat-and-pressure molded to follow the Firebird convertible floor-pan contours.

ACC molded carpet is supplied oversized around certain edges so the installer can position and trim it for the individual vehicle. Seat, seat-belt, shifter and console openings are not completely cut in advance.

This application is manufactured without a separate driver-side heel pad, consistent with the ACC carpet configuration for fourth-generation Firebird convertibles.

Items Not Included

This listing does not include:

  • Front floor mats
  • Rear floor mats
  • Coupe rear hatch deck carpet
  • Removable trophy or deck mat
  • Separate cargo-area carpet pieces
  • Seats or interior trim
  • Center console
  • Sound-deadening material beyond the included mass backing and jute padding

Matching floor mats are available separately.

Installation Information

This carpet is premolded, but it requires complete test-fitting and final trimming during installation.

Before making permanent cuts:

  • Remove the seats, center console, sill plates and related interior trim
  • Remove the original carpet
  • Inspect and clean the floor pan
  • Test-fit the separate jute insulation padding
  • Position the padding against the floor pan
  • Center the molded carpet over the transmission tunnel
  • Align the carpet with the front and rear floor contours
  • Confirm that the carpet is correctly positioned around the convertible-specific floor structure
  • Mark the seat, seat-belt, shifter and console locations
  • Cut each opening gradually
  • Trim the outer edges only after completing the full test fit
  • Test-fit the removed interior components before completing installation

Do not rely exclusively on the removed carpet as a cutting template. Original carpet can shrink, stretch or contain incorrectly positioned openings from a previous installation.

Professional installation is recommended if the installer is unfamiliar with premolded automotive carpet.

Reproduction Information

This is a newly manufactured ACC reproduction carpet. It is not used, New Old Stock or an original discontinued GM carpet.

Minor differences in color, pile, texture, density and backing may exist compared with aged factory carpet because currently available automotive materials are used.
