Applications require the correct Gen III engine and PCV conversion layout. Early blocks and coolant/steam crossover arrangements require clearance checks. Confirm the installed engine on modified vehicles.
- One LS6-style baffled valley cover
- Valley cover mounting bolt set
- Valley cover gasket and knock-sensor sealing gaskets
- One PCV hose, reference GM 12594779
- One LS1 valve-cover plug, reference GM 12568011
The hose connects the valley-mounted ventilation provision to the appropriate intake vacuum connection. The valve-cover plug is used when changing the original LS1 ventilation routing.
This is a PCV and valley-cover conversion. It changes the ventilation arrangement; it does not convert an LS1 engine into an LS6 engine.
Review the existing PCV routing and confirm the hose connection points before disassembly. Check the cover baffle against the engine valley before final installation.
Earlier LS1 blocks may need valley-boss clearance work, and the conversion needs the appropriate later coolant/steam crossover arrangement. Have any clearance work completed with the engine protected from debris.
What makes this a conversion kit?
The package adds a PCV hose and LS1 valve-cover plug to the baffled valley cover, bolts and sealing gaskets.
Which reference identifies the supplied PCV hose?
The Hawks product record identifies GM 12594779 as the hose reference.
What is the valve-cover plug used for?
It is used when changing the original LS1 ventilation routing to the valley-mounted arrangement.
Will this give my LS1 LS6 engine specifications?
The conversion changes the valley cover and ventilation routing; engine output and internal specifications are separate.
Why should I inspect the steam crossover?
The baffled-cover conversion requires compatible crossover clearance, especially on earlier LS1 arrangements.
