Earlier LS1 applications are conversions. Check block-baffle clearance, PCV routing and coolant/steam crossover clearance. Vehicle year alone does not establish compatibility with an engine swap.
- One LS6-style valley cover with PCV provision
- Valley cover mounting bolt set
- Valley cover gasket and knock-sensor sealing gaskets
The cover sits beneath the intake manifold over the engine valley. Its underside baffle separates the ventilation pickup from the open valley area.
Use the listed contents to distinguish this cover package from the separate LS1 conversion kit, which also supplies the conversion hose and valve-cover plug.
Inspect the engine generation and existing PCV system before removing the intake manifold. Check underside clearance before seating the cover.
Early LS1 blocks may require engine-valley boss clearance work. Plan that work with an engine technician and protect the engine from debris. Verify the later-style coolant/steam crossover clearance and follow the applicable torque sequence.
Where is this cover installed?
Beneath the intake manifold, over the Gen III engine valley.
Is the baffled PCV layout the same as a flat cover?
The LS6-style cover has an underside baffle and a valley-mounted ventilation provision.
Can I order it solely because my vehicle has an LS2?
Confirm the block and cover configuration with Hawks first; the researched application here is Gen III LS1 / LS6.
What should I check on an early LS1 block?
Check the engine-valley boss and coolant/steam crossover clearance before fitting the baffled cover.
How does this package differ from the conversion kit?
This package supplies the cover, mounting bolts and sealing gaskets. The conversion-kit listing also supplies a PCV hose and valve-cover plug.
What does this interchange with GM part # wise?
Replaces GM # 12577927
**Also note: This cover is built to the exact specs the GM LS6 covers and are a direct fit onto Gen 3 GM LS engines
