Installation Notice: This kit is designed for manual transmission vehicles upgrading to a TREMEC TKX 5-Speed. Automatic-to-manual conversions require additional components including flywheel, clutch, pedals, and hydraulic clutch components.
Designed for 1958-1964 GM B-Body applications including Impala, Bel Air, Biscayne, Bonneville, Catalina, and Grand Prix models, this TREMEC TKX PerfectFit™ Kit delivers modern manual transmission performance while maintaining proper shifter placement and factory-style fitment.
The TREMEC TKX 5-Speed is one of the most compact modern overdrive transmissions available. Featuring a rounded case design, 600 lb-ft torque capacity, and 7,500 rpm shift capability, the TKX provides excellent strength for street performance builds while improving highway drivability.
The TKX reduces engine RPM during highway cruising, improving fuel economy, lowering engine temperatures, reducing wear, and minimizing noise, vibration, and harshness compared to traditional manual transmissions.
The TKX is available with multiple gear ratio options. Wide ratio gearing includes 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.00, and 0.72. Close ratio gearing includes 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00, and 0.68 or 0.81 overdrive options.
The Manual To TREMEC TKX Kit includes the components needed to upgrade an existing manual transmission application, including the TREMEC TKX 5-Speed overdrive transmission, STX Shifters® with true offset for factory-correct shifter positioning, pilot bearing, crossmember, speedometer connection, reverse light connector, slip yoke, installation hardware, and detailed instructions with lifetime technical support.
