Designed for 1968-1972 Chevrolet A-Body applications, this TREMEC TKX 5-Speed PerfectFit™ Kit provides modern manual transmission performance for Chevelle, El Camino, Malibu, and Monte Carlo models.
The TREMEC TKX is one of the most compact and versatile modern 5-speed transmissions available. Featuring a rounded case design, 600 lb-ft torque capacity, and 7,500 rpm shift capability, the TKX delivers exceptional strength while maintaining excellent street manners and drivability.
The TKX provides improved highway performance with reduced engine RPM, increased fuel economy potential, lower operating temperatures, reduced drivetrain wear, and reduced noise, vibration, and harshness compared to traditional manual transmissions.
The TKX transmission is available with multiple gear ratio configurations. Wide ratio gearing includes 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.00, and 0.72. Close ratio gearing includes 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00, and 0.68 or 0.81 overdrive options.
This PerfectFit™ conversion kit is designed for compatibility with both mechanical and hydraulic clutch actuation systems. The TKX allows clutch actuator changes without completely disassembling the transmission, making future upgrades easier.
