Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1970-1973 Camaro White Premier Perforated Vinyl 5-Bow Headliner with Sun Visorl Material, Acme 70-1413-PRP1181.

This replacement headliner is designed for 1970-1973 Chevrolet Camaro two-door models equipped with the original suspended five-bow headliner system. Acme manufactures the headliner from reproduced White Premier Perforated Vinyl using an original factory-pattern design for proper fit, texture and appearance.

The headliner arrives pre-sewn with five listings or sleeves that accept the vehicle’s original metal headliner bows. Each original bow must be removed from the old headliner, identified by its front-to-rear position and transferred into the corresponding sleeve of the replacement headliner. The five metal bows are not included.

Acme supplies matching loose White Premier Perforated Vinyl material for recovering the original sun visors. This material is unfinished covering yardage. The package does not include completed sun visors, replacement visor cores, visor brackets or mounting hardware.

This is a tailored, pre-sewn bow-style headliner. It is not loose headliner material by the yard, a foam-backed board-recovery kit, an ABS headliner board or a board-to-bow conversion kit.

Professional installation is recommended because correct results require careful bow identification, accurate centering, progressive stretching and controlled trimming around the perimeter and interior accessory openings. Acme’s current product documentation also states that windlace is not included.

Acme’s product record and official catalog identify the 70-1413 family for 1970-1973 Chevrolet Camaro applications using a five-bow suspended headliner. Current application records list Camaro body-style numbers 12487, 12387 and 1Q87, depending on model year.

Fitment Warnings

Verify the original headliner system before ordering. This product fits Camaros equipped with the original five-bow suspended headliner. It does not fit a vehicle using a molded one-piece headliner board.

Closely inspect 1973 vehicles. Acme catalogs this part through 1973, but some application references describe the five-bow configuration as fitting 1970 through early 1973. Count the existing bows and inspect the roof mounting points rather than relying on the model year alone.

Deluxe-style material: Premier Perforated Vinyl is the factory-style material associated with deluxe-interior applications. Camaros originally equipped with a plain, non-perforated headliner require a different material configuration.

Bows are not included: The vehicle must retain five usable original metal bows or a replacement bow set must be purchased separately.

Extra material is unfinished: The included matching material is for recovering existing visors. It is not a set of assembled sun visors.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Before removing the original headliner, number each metal bow according to its position from front to rear. Bow lengths and contours may differ, so each bow should be returned to its original location.

Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, coat hooks, windlace and surrounding roof moldings as required to release the old headliner. Preserve all reusable original trim and mounting hardware.

Carefully remove the five bows from the original headliner and insert them through the corresponding sewn listings in the new headliner. Do not interchange the bows or force them through the sleeves.

Position the new headliner inside the vehicle and establish the front-to-rear and side-to-side centerlines. Suspend all five bows before permanently securing the perimeter.

Stretch and secure the material gradually, working outward from the center and alternating between opposite sides. Pulling one side completely tight before working the other side can create diagonal wrinkles or shift the headliner off-center.

Do not trim excess perimeter material until the headliner is centered, evenly tensioned and checked for correct bow placement. Cut openings for the dome light, sun visor brackets and coat hooks only after the final position has been established.

Use the included matching material to recover the original sun-visor cores and sail panels where applicable. Recovering the visors may require sewing, edge binding and automotive upholstery equipment. Finished ready-to-install sun visors are not included.

Photography, electronic displays, lighting, aged original trim and production dye-lot differences may affect the perceived shade. Compare a physical PRP1181 White material sample when exact color matching is required.
