This PerfectFit™ transmission conversion kit upgrades classic GM G-Body vehicles with modern 5-speed overdrive performance, increased strength, improved drivability, and reduced cruising RPM for street and performance applications.

Designed for 1978-1988 GM G-Body applications, this TREMEC TKX 5-Speed PerfectFit™ Kit provides modern manual transmission performance for Buick Regal, Chevrolet El Camino, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, GMC Caballero, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Cutlass Cruiser, Cutlass Salon, Pontiac Bonneville, and Pontiac Grand Prix models.
The TREMEC TKX 5-Speed features a compact rounded case design, 600 lb-ft torque capacity, and the ability to handle 7,500 rpm shifts. The TKX delivers excellent street performance with reduced engine RPM, improved fuel economy, lower operating temperatures, and reduced noise, vibration, and harshness.
The TKX is designed for everyday street use while providing the strength needed for performance applications. Its compact design allows reduced or no tunnel cutting depending on vehicle configuration, making it an excellent upgrade for classic GM G-Body platforms.
The TKX is available with wide ratio and close ratio gear sets. Wide ratio gearing includes 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.00, and 0.72. Close ratio gearing includes 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00, and 0.68 or 0.81 overdrive options.
The PerfectFit™ kit includes the required components for installation, including the TREMEC TKX 5-Speed overdrive transmission, application-specific shifter configuration, pilot bearing, installation hardware, isolator mount, crossmember, speedometer connection, reverse light connector, driveshaft and slip yoke, and detailed installation instructions with lifetime technical support.
This kit supports existing manual transmission upgrades and automatic-to-manual conversions with optional components including flywheel, clutch kit, bellhousing, pedals, hydraulic clutch actuator components, shifter components, tunnel accessories, and additional drivetrain upgrades.
