Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is proud to offer our clients this : 1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Formula, and Trans Am Front Lower A-Arm Hardware Kit from UMI Performance.
UMI Performance #3011 provides the high-strength fasteners needed to mount both front lower A-arms to the K-member of third-generation GM F-body vehicles.
The kit features 12mm metric Grade 10.9 bolts, matching flat washers, and nylon-insert locking nuts. All supplied components have a zinc-coated finish that helps protect the hardware against corrosion while providing a clean, finished appearance.
Four mounting bolts provide the two pivot fasteners required for each front lower A-arm. UMI-3011 supplies the mounting hardware for both the driver- and passenger-side lower control arms.
This hardware kit is compatible with applicable UMI Performance A-arms, original GM lower A-arms, factory-style replacements, and other aftermarket lower control arms designed around the factory 12mm mounting arrangement.
UMI-3011 is an excellent choice when installing replacement or performance lower A-arms or replacing original pivot fasteners that are rusted, seized, damaged, worn, or missing. It is suitable for factory restorations, front-suspension rebuilds, street-performance vehicles, Pro-Touring builds, autocross cars, road-course vehicles, and drag-racing applications.

Important Position Information
On 1982-1992 Camaro and Firebird models, UMI-3011 installs at the front lower A-arm pivot locations where the control arms attach to the K-member.
This kit is not:
- Front upper A-arm hardware
- Rear lower control-arm hardware
- K-member-to-chassis mounting hardware
- Ball-joint hardware
- Strut mounting hardware
- Shock mounting hardware
- Coil-spring hardware
- Sway-bar or end-link hardware
- Steering-linkage hardware
Third-generation Camaro and Firebird models use a strut-based front-suspension arrangement and do not use the conventional G-body-style front upper A-arms. References to upper-and-lower A-arm installation should not be used in the F-body product description.
Important Year-Range Correction
UMI Performance currently catalogs UMI-3011 for 1982-1992 GM F-body applications.
It should not be advertised as a 1982-2002 Camaro or Firebird front A-arm kit. Fourth-generation 1993-2002 F-body vehicles use different front lower-control-arm hardware.

Important Fitment Notes
- UMI-3011 mounts the front lower A-arms to the K-member.
- One kit supplies the mounting hardware for both front lower A-arms.
- Each front lower A-arm uses two K-member pivot bolts.
- The supplied fasteners are 12mm metric Grade 10.9 bolts.
- Confirm that the lower A-arm bushing sleeves accept the correct 12mm fasteners.
- Compatible with applicable factory and aftermarket lower A-arms.
- Confirm dimensions when installing custom-fabricated or heavily modified control arms.
- Inspect the K-member mounting brackets and holes before installation.
- Mounting holes that are cracked, distorted, corroded, or elongated must be properly repaired before installing new hardware.
- Previous collision repairs or K-member modifications may affect alignment and fitment.
- Engine-swap K-members may use different lower A-arm mounting dimensions.
- Confirm compatibility when using a K-member from another manufacturer.
- UMI-3011 does not mount the K-member to the vehicle.
- UMI-3011 does not include ball-joint, strut, shock, coil-spring, steering, or sway-bar hardware.
- UMI-3011 is not intended for the rear lower control arms.
- UMI-3011 should not be listed as upper A-arm hardware on third-generation F-body models.
- UMI-3011 is not the correct front lower-control-arm kit for 1993-2002 Camaro or Firebird models.
- UMI also catalogs #3011 for applicable 1978-1988 GM G-body vehicles, but this Hawks Motorsports listing is written specifically for the 1982-1992 Camaro, Firebird, Formula, and Trans Am application.
6. INSTALLATION NOTES
- Review the vehicle service manual and lower-control-arm manufacturer’s instructions before installation.
- Confirm that the vehicle and lower A-arms require 12mm mounting fasteners.
- Park the vehicle on a solid, level surface.
- Chock the rear wheels before raising the front of the vehicle.
- Safely raise and support the vehicle using properly rated lifting equipment.
- Support the vehicle at approved chassis or frame locations.
- Never work beneath a vehicle supported only by a hydraulic jack.
- Front springs, struts, and coilover assemblies can store substantial energy and may cause serious injury if improperly handled.
- Safely unload and control the front suspension before removing a lower A-arm.
- Remove the front wheel to provide proper access to the lower-control-arm mounting locations.
- Support the lower A-arm and spindle assembly during disassembly.
- Follow the control-arm manufacturer’s procedure for disconnecting the sway-bar end link, tie-rod end, lower ball joint, strut, spring, or coilover components.
- Replacing one lower A-arm at a time can help preserve component orientation and provide an installation reference.
- Record the direction and position of the original lower A-arm pivot bolts before removal.
- Inspect the original fasteners for evidence of bending, thread damage, corrosion, or movement inside the mounting holes.
- Inspect the K-member brackets for cracking, corrosion, distortion, or elongated holes.
- Inspect the lower A-arm bushing sleeves before installing the new fasteners.
- Confirm that the sleeves and K-member holes accept the supplied 12mm bolts.
- Do not force a bolt through a misaligned bushing sleeve or K-member bracket.
- Correct the component alignment before inserting the mounting bolts.
- Apply bushing lubricant only when directed by the lower-control-arm manufacturer.
- Position the lower A-arm in the K-member and initially install the pivot hardware loosely.
- Confirm that each bolt passes completely through the mounting brackets and bushing sleeve.
- Verify full thread engagement through every nylon-insert locking nut.
- Do not install a nut with the nylon locking insert positioned over an unthreaded section of the bolt.
- Do not use fasteners with damaged or contaminated threads.
- Follow the applicable vehicle service manual or lower-control-arm manufacturer’s specified tightening procedure.
- UMI does not publish one universal torque specification for UMI-3011 across every compatible factory and aftermarket lower A-arm.
- Do not select a torque specification based only on the bolt’s diameter or property class.
- Rubber- and polyurethane-bushed lower A-arms may require final tightening with the suspension positioned at normal ride height.
- Tightening certain bushed control arms while the suspension is hanging can create unwanted bushing preload.
- Follow the control-arm manufacturer’s instructions when using Delrin, bearing, or solid-pivot lower A-arms.
- Reconnect the lower ball joint, steering linkage, strut, spring, coilover, and sway-bar components according to the applicable installation instructions.
- Confirm that all castle nuts are secured with the correct cotter pins where required.
- Turn the steering from lock to lock after installation.
- Check clearance around the wheels, tires, brake hoses, steering linkage, sway bar, K-member, springs, struts, shocks, and surrounding chassis components.
- Verify that the lower A-arms move through their intended suspension travel without binding.
- Complete a professional front-end alignment after removing or replacing the lower A-arms.
- Reinspect the fasteners after the initial road test.
- Periodically inspect the lower A-arm hardware and K-member mounting points as part of normal suspension maintenance.
