This black 98mm high-flow air lid is designed for 1998-2002 Camaro and Firebird LS1 cars that retain the factory 85mm MAF. Its expanded plenum and 98mm outlet provide a smoother filter-to-meter transition without requiring a reduction coupler.

Stock-MAF Application
This is the high-flow Hawks lid for an LS1 F-Body using the original 85mm meter.
Direct Diameter Transition
The specified outlet works with the stock MAF without an extra reducer.
Black Underhood Finish
The opaque black construction provides a restrained appearance with the same airflow geometry as the clear 98mm version.

Model, trim and equipment availability can vary. Compare the original component, installation location and product photographs before ordering.
- Verify the MAF remains the factory 85mm size.
- Check the lower air box and filter sealing surface.
- Remove the original lid and protect the open intake.
- Seat the filter squarely.
- Install the black lid without forcing its outlet alignment.
- Check all clamps, hood clearance and intake sealing.
Will this work with a 100mm MAF?
Choose the 104mm lid for the Hawks 100mm MAF arrangement.
Does this version require a reducer at the stock MAF?
No. The 98mm lid is designed to connect to the factory 85mm meter without one.
Is the black version internally different from the clear version?
No dimensional difference is stated; the primary distinction is the finish.
Can prior modifications affect fitment?
Yes. Engine swaps, replacement body panels and earlier repairs can alter the original configuration.
What is the safest first installation step?
Document the original orientation and inspect the surrounding components before disassembly.
NOTE: 1998-2002 Camaro Z28: Most Camaro Z28's have experienced no problems. A few have experienced minor rubbing. In two isolated Z28 applications, the customer was unable to close the hood. This can be rectified by modification of the lower airbox assembly and/or hood.
NOTE: 1998-2002 Firebird, WS6 and Firehawk: No reported issues of any kind.
NOTE: Aftermarket Hoods (other than Camaro SS): No reported issues of any kind.
