This clear 98mm high-flow air lid is sized for 1998-2002 Camaro and Firebird LS1 intake systems retaining the factory 85mm mass-airflow sensor. Its outlet works with the stock meter without a reduction coupler while the expanded lid volume smooths the transition from the panel filter.

Factory MAF Compatibility

The 98mm lid is the appropriate Hawks high-flow version for the original 85mm MAF.

No Reduction Coupler Required

Its outlet geometry transitions to the factory meter without the reducer used for larger-lid combinations.

Clear Construction

The transparent material provides an unobstructed view of the panel filter and internal lid shape.

Model, trim and equipment availability can vary. Compare the original component, installation location and product photographs before ordering.

1. Confirm the car retains the factory-size 85mm MAF.
2. Inspect the panel filter and lower air box.
3. Remove the old lid while keeping the inlet clean.
4. Center the filter and seat the clear lid evenly.
5. Tighten clamps only enough to create a secure seal.
6. Verify hood clearance and check the intake tract for air leaks.

Which MAF size is this lid designed around?

It is designed to work with the factory 85mm MAF.

Is a reduction coupler required?

No. Hawks states that this 98mm lid works with the GM 85mm MAF without a reduction coupler.

How is it different from the 104mm lid?

The 104mm version is intended for a 100mm MAF conversion.

What should be compared before ordering?

Compare the original component, vehicle configuration and product photographs.

Why is model year alone not enough?

Engine, trim and prior modifications can change the installed arrangement.

NOTE: 1998-2002 Camaro SS OWNERS: Factory and aftermarket SS hoods may experience rubbing on the hood. This can be addressed by putting some adhesive tape or the soft adhesive Velcro in the contact spot to prevent paint scuffing. This same problem occurs with SLP and other aftermarket lids as well.

NOTE: 1998-2002 Camaro Z28: Most Camaro Z28's have experienced no problems. A few have experienced minor rubbing. In two isolated Z28 applications, the customer was unable to close the hood. This can be rectified by modification of the lower airbox assembly and/or hood.
