Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following Roto-fab cold air intake system with a dry filter for the 2017-2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, part #1016-1057.
Developed specifically for the supercharged 6.2L LT4 engine, this Roto-fab intake combines a large-capacity dry air filter, custom-molded inlet ductwork and an open-top airbox engineered to seal against the underside of the Camaro’s hood.
The airbox also integrates with the vehicle’s incoming fresh-air duct. This design maximizes usable airbox volume while helping isolate the filter from hot engine-compartment air.
Roto-fab engineered this standard ZL1 intake to operate on the factory engine calibration when installed on a compatible application. It provides increased airflow, a cleaner engine-compartment appearance and a more noticeable supercharger sound without requiring a tune.
Roto-fab reports a 26-horsepower gain during its testing with no tune or other vehicle modifications. Actual results can vary depending on the vehicle, testing method, environmental conditions and additional modifications.

Dry-Filter Design
Part #1016-1057 includes Roto-fab’s gray dry filter. This filter does not require the application of filter oil during normal servicing.
The dry-filter design is a suitable choice for customers who prefer:
- Filter maintenance without re-oiling
- No filter oil near the mass airflow sensor
- A gray filter element
- A reusable and serviceable filter
- The standard no-tune Roto-fab ZL1 intake configuration
The direct replacement dry filter is Roto-fab part #1013-5014.
Customers who prefer the red pre-oiled filter should select Roto-fab intake part #1016-1056.
Standard Intake Versus Big Gulp
Part #1016-1057 is Roto-fab’s standard no-tune Camaro ZL1 intake with a dry filter. Roto-fab describes its standard intake as the preferred choice for most stock and moderately modified ZL1 applications where factory-style drivability and no-tune operation are priorities.
For combinations exceeding approximately 650–700 rear-wheel horsepower, Roto-fab recommends considering its larger Big Gulp intake:
- Big Gulp part number: 1016-1074
- Oversized airflow configuration
- Intended for higher-output combinations
- Engine calibration required
The Big Gulp system is a separate product and should not be confused with this standard no-tune intake.
Installation Notes
Confirm that the vehicle is a 2017-2024 Camaro ZL1 with the compatible supercharged 6.2L LT4 configuration before beginning installation.
Carefully remove and transfer the mass airflow sensor without touching or contaminating its sensing elements. Verify that the sensor is installed in the correct direction.
Inspect all intake connections and confirm that the airbox is properly positioned against the vehicle’s incoming fresh-air duct. The open upper edge of the airbox should align correctly with the underside of the hood.
After installation, start the engine and inspect the entire intake path for loose connections, air leaks or warning indicators. Roto-fab supplies detailed installation instructions with the intake system.
Frequently Asked Questions
What vehicles does Roto-fab 1016-1057 fit?
It fits 2017-2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 models equipped with the compatible supercharged 6.2L LT4 intake configuration.
Is 1016-1057 the dry-filter intake?
Yes. Part #1016-1057 includes Roto-fab’s gray dry air filter.
Does the dry filter require oil?
No. The dry filter should be serviced as a dry filter and does not require filter oil.
What is the replacement filter part number?
The replacement dry filter is Roto-fab part #1013-5014.
What is the difference between 1016-1057 and 1016-1056?
- 1016-1057 includes a gray dry filter.
- 1016-1056 includes a red pre-oiled filter.
Both are standard Roto-fab ZL1 intake systems intended for the same basic vehicle application.
Does one filter type produce more horsepower?
Roto-fab does not publish a separate guaranteed horsepower result for each filter option on its current product pages. Choose the filter based primarily on the preferred maintenance method.
Does this intake require a tune?
No. Roto-fab identifies 1016-1057 as a no-tune intake for a compatible standard application.
Other performance modifications may change the vehicle’s calibration requirements. Follow the recommendations of the engine builder or calibrator when combining the intake with additional modifications.
How much horsepower does the intake add?
Roto-fab reports a 26-horsepower gain during its testing with no tune or other modifications. Actual results may vary between vehicles and testing conditions.
Does the intake increase supercharger sound?
Roto-fab reports a substantially more noticeable supercharger sound under acceleration.
Will this intake fit a Camaro SS?
No. Part #1016-1057 is designed specifically for the supercharged Camaro ZL1. The naturally aspirated Camaro SS requires a different intake system.
Is this the Roto-fab Big Gulp intake?
No. This is the standard no-tune ZL1 intake. The larger Big Gulp system is part #1016-1074 and requires an engine calibration.
Which intake should be used above 650–700 rear-wheel horsepower?
Roto-fab recommends considering its Big Gulp intake for vehicles exceeding approximately 650–700 rear-wheel horsepower. Coordinate the intake selection with the engine builder and calibrator.
