Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following.
Restore proper driver-door latching with this OER replacement assembly for 1970–1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird models, including Esprit, Formula, and Trans Am. This stamped-steel reproduction replaces the original left-hand door latch and is sold individually.
After roughly half a century of opening, closing, and locking, an original latch can develop wear that makes the door difficult to release or latch consistently. Replacing a worn or damaged assembly addresses an important part of the door’s operation during a restoration or repair.
Door restoration is also a practical time to inspect the latch, connecting rods, clips, hinges, and striker. A replacement latch addresses wear within the latch assembly; correct door alignment and properly functioning linkage remain essential for smooth operation.
Operation note: This updated latch incorporates an anti-lockout feature. To close the door with the interior lock button depressed, hold the exterior door handle in its open position while closing the door.

Common Questions
Is this the driver-side or passenger-side latch?
Part 1748554 fits the left-hand/driver side.
Is this sold individually or as a pair?
This listing includes one driver-side door latch assembly.
How does the anti-lockout feature work?
When closing the door with the interior lock button pushed down, hold the exterior handle open as the door closes.
Will a replacement latch fix a sagging door?
Door sag requires inspection of the hinges and alignment. A latch replacement addresses a worn or damaged latch, but does not correct worn hinges.
