Restore proper passenger-door latching with this OER replacement assembly for 1970–1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird models, including Esprit, Formula, and Trans Am. This stamped-steel reproduction replaces the original right-hand door latch and is sold individually.
After decades of use, wear within the original latch can cause inconsistent engagement or difficulty releasing the door. Replacing a damaged assembly is a practical step when restoring the passenger door. Inspect the hinges, striker, and connecting linkage at the same time, as their condition and adjustment also affect operation.
Operation note: This updated latch includes an anti-lockout feature. When closing the door with the interior lock button depressed, hold the exterior handle in its open position as the door closes.
