Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Buckskin Premier Perforated Vinyl Custom Bow-Style Headliner Conversion Kit, Acme UCH3-PRP1186.

This custom headliner conversion kit replaces the original molded cardboard or fiberboard-style headliner with a suspended bow-style system. Rather than attaching foam-backed material to a rigid board, the Buckskin vinyl headliner is stretched across the roof and supported by the supplied metal bows and mounting components.

The conversion eliminates the original cardboard headliner board and the deteriorating foam layer that commonly causes the factory-style covering to separate, sag or fall. Camaro Depot describes the UCH3 system as a complete replacement for the original cardboard-and-foam assembly.

The headliner is manufactured from Buckskin Premier Perforated Vinyl, identified by Acme material code PRP1186. Some upholstery references describe the same PRP1186 shade as Light Saddle/Buckskin, but Hawks Motorsports uses Buckskin as the primary customer-facing color.

The complete Buckskin conversion is also cataloged under Acme’s shorter number UCH3-35P. Current application records verify this kit for 1974-1981 Chevrolet Camaro models and specify that drilling is required for the new headliner-bow mounting locations. The drilled holes are hidden after the completed headliner is installed.

This is a bow-style conversion system, not an ABS headliner board and not loose material only. The vehicle’s original sail panels are not included and must be reused, restored or recovered separately.

Fitment Warnings

Camaro application only: The manufacturer and supplier information reviewed verifies Chevrolet Camaro fitment. Firebird, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am applications were not authoritatively confirmed for the UCH3 conversion family and should not be added to this listing without direct Acme documentation.

Hardtop application: Restrict this listing to hardtop or solid-roof Camaro models. Do not represent it as a T-Top conversion kit unless Acme directly confirms the customer’s specific roof configuration.

Original headliner system: This kit replaces the molded board-style headliner assembly. It does not recover or reuse the original headliner board.

Sail panels: New sail panels are not included. The vehicle’s original panels must be reused, restored or recovered separately.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Remove the original molded headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, surrounding roof moldings and sail panels as needed to expose the roof structure. Preserve all reusable original trim, fasteners and sail panels.

Installation requires drilling new mounting holes for the supplied bow hardware. Measure and mark both sides carefully before drilling so the corresponding attachment points remain level and symmetrical. The completed suspended headliner conceals these mounting holes.

Install the supplied plastic attachment clips according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the metal bows through the sewn sleeves or listings on the rear of the headliner before attaching the bows to the roof-mounted clips.

Center the headliner from front to rear and from side to side before permanently securing its perimeter. Gradually tension the vinyl in alternating sections. Avoid pulling one side completely tight before adjusting the opposite side, as uneven tension can create diagonal wrinkles or distort the perforation pattern.

Warm shop conditions can make the vinyl more flexible during installation. Avoid open flames or excessive concentrated heat, which may discolor, shrink or distort the material.

Cut openings for the dome light, visor mounts and other accessories only after the headliner has been centered and properly tensioned. Begin with small cuts because removed material cannot be restored.

Inspect the original sail panels before starting the installation. Repair or recover them separately when necessary because replacement sail panels are not supplied with the kit.

Professional installation is strongly recommended. Proper results require accurate measuring, drilling, bow placement and controlled material tensioning.

Electronic displays, lighting, aged original interior components and production dye lots can affect perceived color. Compare a physical Buckskin material sample with the vehicle’s existing trim when an exact color match is important.
