Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Sandalwood Premier Perforated Vinyl Custom Bow-Style Headliner Conversion Kit, Acme UCH3-PRP1180.
This custom headliner conversion kit replaces the original molded cardboard or fiberboard-style headliner with a suspended bow-style system. Rather than gluing foam-backed material to a rigid board, the Sandalwood vinyl headliner is stretched across the roof and supported by the included metal bows and attachment hardware.
The conversion eliminates the original cardboard headliner board and deteriorating foam layer. This addresses the common failure in which aged foam separates from the molded board and allows the original headliner covering to sag or fall.
This is a complete bow-style conversion system. It is not an ABS headliner board, a recovery kit or a loose material-only product. Installation requires adding concealed mounting locations for the supplied bow hardware. Once installed, the vinyl is suspended across the roof in the style of the earlier Camaro bow-supported headliner system.
The vehicle’s original sail panels are not included. They must be reused, repaired or recovered separately.

Fitment Warnings
Camaro application only: Current manufacturer and supplier records verify Chevrolet Camaro fitment. Pontiac Firebird, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am applications were not confirmed for the UCH3 conversion family and should not be added without direct Acme documentation.
Hardtop or solid-roof application: Hawks should restrict this listing to non-T-top Camaro applications. Current UCH3 records do not identify it as a T-top conversion system, and the installation requires full-width suspended bows across the roof. This restriction is an inference from the available application and construction information.
Original headliner system: This kit replaces the molded board-style headliner. It does not repair, recover or reuse the original board.
Sail panels: Replacement sail panels are not supplied. The vehicle’s original sail panels must be reused, restored or recovered separately.
Color application: Sandalwood is an available Acme conversion-kit color, but it may not be factory-correct for every Camaro model year or trim package within 1974-1981. Verify the vehicle’s original interior trim code when factory originality is required.
INSTALLATION NOTES
Remove the original molded headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, surrounding roof moldings and sail panels as necessary to expose the roof structure. Preserve all reusable original trim, fasteners and sail panels.
Installation requires drilling new mounting holes for the supplied bow hardware. Measure and mark both sides carefully before drilling so the corresponding mounting points remain level and symmetrical. The completed headliner conceals the new holes after installation.
Install the supplied plastic bow attachment clips according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the metal bows through the sewn sleeves or listings on the rear of the headliner before attaching them to the roof-mounted clips.
Center the headliner from front to rear and side to side before permanently securing the perimeter. Gradually tension the vinyl in small, alternating sections. Avoid pulling one side completely tight before adjusting the opposite side, as uneven tension may create diagonal wrinkles or distort the perforation pattern.
Warm shop conditions can make the vinyl easier to stretch and shape. Do not use an open flame or excessive concentrated heat, which may discolor, shrink or distort the material.
Locate and cut openings for the dome light, sun visor mounts and other accessories only after the headliner is centered and tensioned. Begin with small cuts because material cannot be replaced after too much has been removed.
Inspect the original sail panels before installation. Repair or recover them separately when necessary because replacements are not included with the kit.
Professional installation is strongly recommended. This conversion requires accurate measuring, drilling, bow placement and controlled tensioning of the vinyl.
Electronic displays, photography lighting, aged original trim and production dye lots may affect perceived color. Compare a physical Sandalwood material sample with the vehicle’s existing interior when close color matching is important.
