Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Saddle Premier Perforated Vinyl Custom Bow-Style Headliner Conversion Kit, Acme UCH3-PRP1185.

This custom conversion kit replaces the original molded cardboard or fiberboard-style headliner assembly with a traditional suspended bow-style headliner system. Instead of bonding foam-backed material to a rigid board, the new Saddle vinyl headliner stretches across the roof and is supported by the included metal bows and attachment hardware.

The conversion completely eliminates the original cardboard headliner board and deteriorating foam layer. Removing the original board-and-foam design helps prevent the common problem of aged foam breaking down and allowing the covering material to sag, separate or fall from the roof.

The headliner is produced in Saddle Premier Perforated Vinyl. Acme officially catalogs the complete Saddle conversion as UCH3-33P. The extended part number UCH3-PRP1185 identifies the same UCH3 conversion family using the associated PRP1185 Premier Perforated Vinyl material code. Acme material references may describe PRP1185 as Dark Saddle or Brown, but Hawks Motorsports should use Saddle as the principal customer-facing color name.

This is a complete conversion system rather than an ABS headliner board, a replacement cardboard board or loose material only. Installation requires adding concealed mounting locations for the supplied bow hardware.

The vehicle’s original sail panels are not included. They must be reused, repaired or recovered separately.

Fitment Warnings

Camaro application only: The manufacturer and supplier records reviewed verify Chevrolet Camaro fitment. Firebird, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am applications were not authoritatively confirmed for the UCH3 conversion family.

Hardtop or solid-roof application: Restrict this listing to Camaro models with a full solid roof. The system uses full-width suspended bows and should not be represented as a T-Top headliner conversion kit.

Original headliner system: This kit replaces the original molded board-style headliner. The original board is not reused or recovered.

Sail panels: New sail panels are not included. The vehicle’s original sail panels must be reused, restored or recovered separately.

Color application: Saddle is an available Acme conversion-kit color, but it may not be factory-correct for every year and trim level within the 1974-1981 range. Verify the vehicle’s original interior trim code when factory originality is required.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Remove the original molded headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, surrounding roof moldings and sail panels as needed to expose the roof structure. Preserve all reusable original trim, fasteners and sail panels.

Installation requires drilling new mounting holes for the supplied bow attachment hardware. Carefully measure and mark both sides of the roof before drilling so the corresponding mounting locations remain level and symmetrical. The mounting holes are concealed after the completed headliner is installed.

Install the supplied plastic bow attachment clips according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the metal bows through the sewn sleeves or listings on the back of the headliner before connecting them to the roof-mounted clips.

Center the headliner from front to rear and side to side before permanently securing the perimeter. Gradually tension the vinyl in small, alternating sections. Do not pull one side completely tight before adjusting the opposite side, as uneven tension can create diagonal wrinkles or distort the perforation pattern.

Warm shop conditions can make the vinyl easier to shape during installation. Avoid open flames and excessive concentrated heat, which may shrink, discolor or permanently distort the material.

Locate and cut openings for the dome light, sun visor brackets and other accessories only after the material has been centered and properly tensioned. Begin with small cuts because removed material cannot be replaced.

Inspect the original sail panels before starting the installation. Repair or recover them separately when necessary because replacements are not included.

Professional installation is strongly recommended. The conversion requires accurate measuring, drilling, bow placement and controlled material tensioning.

Electronic displays, photography lighting, aged original components and production dye lots can affect perceived color. Compare a physical Saddle material sample with the vehicle’s existing trim when close color matching is important.
