Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Medium Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl Custom Bow-Style Headliner Conversion Kit, Acme UCH3-PRP1482.

This custom conversion kit replaces the original molded cardboard or fiberboard-style headliner assembly with a suspended bow-style headliner system. Rather than bonding foam-backed material to a rigid board, the Medium Blue vinyl covering is suspended across the roof using the included metal bows and attachment components.

The conversion completely eliminates the original cardboard headliner board and deteriorating foam layer. This design addresses the common problem of aging foam separating from the original board and allowing the headliner covering to sag or fall.

The headliner is manufactured from Medium Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl. Acme identifies the material as PRP1482, while the complete Medium Blue conversion-kit configuration is also cataloged under the shorter number UCH3-36P.

This is a complete bow-style conversion system rather than a replacement ABS or cardboard headliner board. Installation requires drilling concealed mounting holes for the supplied bow hardware. Once installed, the new vinyl headliner stretches across the roof in the style of a traditional suspended headliner.

The kit includes two metal headliner bows, plastic bow attachment clips, two rods and installation instructions. The vehicle’s original sail panels are not included and must be reused, repaired or recovered separately.

Fitment Warnings

Camaro application only: Current manufacturer-supplied fitment records do not verify this UCH3 conversion kit for Pontiac Firebird, Esprit, Formula or Trans Am models. Do not cross-list it for Pontiac applications without direct confirmation from Acme.

Hardtop application: This listing should be restricted to hardtop or solid-roof Camaro models. Do not describe it as a T-Top headliner conversion kit.

Original headliner system: This kit replaces the molded board-style headliner. It does not repair, recover or reuse the original headliner board.

Sail panels: New sail panels are not included. The vehicle’s original sail panels must be reused or recovered separately.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Remove the original molded headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, surrounding roof moldings and sail panels as required to access the roof structure. Preserve all reusable original trim, fasteners and sail panels.

Installation requires drilling new mounting holes for the bow attachment hardware. These holes are concealed after the completed headliner is installed. Carefully measure and mark both sides of the roof before drilling so the corresponding attachment points remain level and symmetrical.

Install the supplied plastic bow attachment clips according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the metal bows through the sewn sleeves or listings on the rear of the new headliner before connecting them to the roof-mounted clips.

Center the headliner from front to rear and side to side before permanently securing the perimeter. Gradually tension the material in small, alternating sections. Do not completely tighten one side before adjusting the opposite side, as this may create diagonal wrinkles or uneven tension.

Warm shop conditions can make the vinyl easier to stretch and shape. Avoid excessive or concentrated heat, which could discolor, distort or damage the material.

Locate and expose the dome-light, sun-visor and accessory openings only after the headliner is centered and tensioned. Begin with small cuts because material cannot be replaced after too much has been removed.

Inspect the original sail panels before beginning installation. Repair or recover them separately when necessary because replacements are not included with the kit.

Professional installation is strongly recommended. This conversion requires accurate measuring, drilling, bow placement and controlled material tensioning.

Electronic displays, photography lighting, aged original trim and production dye lots may affect perceived color. Compare a physical Medium Blue material sample with the vehicle’s existing interior when close color matching is important.
