Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Dark Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl Custom Bow-Style Headliner Conversion Kit, Acme UCH3-PRP1183.
This conversion kit replaces the original molded cardboard or fiberboard-style headliner assembly with a suspended bow-style headliner system. Instead of bonding foam-backed material to a rigid board, the new headliner is supported across the roof by the supplied bows and attachment hardware. This design removes the deteriorating foam layer that commonly causes the original headliner covering to separate and sag.
The headliner is manufactured from Acme’s Dark Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl. Acme material code PRP1183 is consistently identified as Dark Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl, while Acme catalogs the Dark Blue UCH3 conversion-kit configuration under the shorter color-coded number UCH3-39P.
This is a conversion system rather than a replacement molded board. Installation requires adding mounting points for the supplied bow hardware. Once completed, the new headliner stretches across the roof in the style of an earlier bow-suspended headliner.

Roof configuration: This listing should be restricted to hardtop or solid-roof applications. It should not be represented as a T-top conversion kit unless the manufacturer confirms compatibility with the customer’s specific T-top system.
Original headliner: The kit is intended to replace the molded board-style headliner used in the listed Camaro applications. It does not restore or reuse the original board.
INSTALLATION NOTES
Remove the original headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, surrounding roof trim and sail panels as required for access. Preserve all reusable original trim, fasteners and sail panels.
The conversion requires drilling new mounting holes for the bow attachment hardware. Ground Up specifically notes that drilling is required and that the completed headliner conceals the new holes after installation.
Carefully measure and mark both sides of the roof before drilling. The corresponding bow mounting points must remain level and symmetrical so the headliner hangs evenly without diagonal wrinkles or uneven tension.
Install the supplied plastic attachment clips and bows according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the bows through the sewn headliner listings or sleeves before attaching them to the roof-mounted clips.
Center the headliner from front to rear and side to side before permanently securing its edges. Gradually tension the material in small, alternating sections. Avoid pulling one side completely tight before working on the opposite side.
Warm shop conditions can make vinyl easier to stretch and shape, but excessive heat may distort or damage the material. Do not use an open flame or concentrate heat in one area.
Locate and cut openings for the dome light, visor mounts and other accessories only after the headliner has been centered and secured. Begin with small cuts because an opening cannot be reduced after excess material has been removed.
The original sail panels are not included. Inspect them before installation and repair or recover them as needed. Professional installation is recommended because the conversion requires accurate measuring, drilling, bow placement and material tensioning.
Material color may appear different due to photography, display settings, lighting, aged original trim and production dye-lot variation. Compare a physical Dark Blue material sample when an exact interior match is required.
