Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Black Foam-Backed Cloth Headliner Material, Material Only, Acme 74-1413-1559.
This replacement automotive headliner material is designed for recovering a structurally sound original or replacement headliner board. The black cloth face provides a clean, finished appearance, while the attached foam backing supplies the cushioned layer needed between the visible material and the headliner board.
Acme uses the 1559 material code for Black foam-backed cloth across its headliner and sun visor product families. The color is identified as Black rather than Charcoal, Graphite, Dark Gray or another off-black shade.
This material is suitable for replacing cloth that has become faded, stained, torn, loose or separated from deteriorated foam. It can also be used when converting a compatible reusable board to a black cloth covering as part of a custom interior project.
This listing includes the foam-backed cloth headliner material only. A molded headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, roof moldings, mounting hardware and installation adhesive are not included.

Application note: This product is replacement covering material and does not include a molded headliner board. Confirm that the existing board is reusable and verify the amount of material needed for the vehicle’s hardtop or T-Top roof configuration before ordering.
Factory-originality note: Cloth material can recover compatible boards throughout the listed application range, but cloth was not the original covering used in every 1974-1981 Camaro or Firebird. Some vehicles originally used perforated vinyl. Confirm the vehicle’s original material when completing a factory-correct restoration.
INSTALLATION NOTES
Remove the headliner board from the vehicle before recovering it. Carefully strip away the old covering, deteriorated foam and loose adhesive without damaging the board.
The board must be clean, dry and structurally sound. Remove all loose foam residue and repair cracks, damaged mounting areas or weakened edges before applying the replacement material.
Dry-fit and center the cloth before applying adhesive. Use a high-temperature automotive headliner adhesive that is compatible with foam-backed cloth. Install the material gradually from the center toward the edges to reduce wrinkles, trapped air and uneven tension.
Do not excessively stretch the cloth. Stretching can distort the fabric surface, compress the foam backing and place unnecessary tension on the adhesive bond.
Allow the adhesive to cure according to its instructions before trimming excess material or reinstalling the board. Professional installation is recommended when the original headliner board is brittle, warped, cracked or previously repaired.
Colors displayed on computer monitors and mobile devices may differ from the actual material. Compare a physical sample with the vehicle’s existing trim when a close color match is required.
