Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Oyster Light Gray Foam-Backed Cloth Headliner Material, Material Only, Acme 74-1413-2126.
This replacement automotive headliner material is intended for recovering a clean and structurally sound original or replacement headliner board. The Oyster color provides a light gray interior finish commonly associated with 1979 and 1980 Camaro, Firebird and Trans Am restoration applications. Restoration suppliers identify Acme color code 2126 as Oyster or Oyster Light Gray within the foam-backed cloth material family.
The automotive cloth face provides a smooth finished appearance, while the attached foam backing creates the cushioned layer required between the visible material and the headliner board. This material can replace an original headliner covering that has become faded, stained, torn, loose or separated from deteriorated foam.
This listing includes the flexible foam-backed cloth headliner material only. A molded headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, roof trim, mounting hardware and installation adhesive are not included.

Application note: This product is flexible covering material rather than a molded or pre-cut headliner board. Confirm that the existing board is reusable and verify the amount of material needed for the vehicle’s hardtop or T-Top roof configuration before ordering.
Factory-originality note: The material can recover compatible boards within the listed 1974-1981 range, but Acme restoration references most closely associate the 2126 Oyster color with 1979 applications. Verify the vehicle’s original trim color and material when completing a factory-correct restoration.
INSTALLATION NOTES
Remove the headliner board from the vehicle before recovering it. Carefully strip away the original covering, deteriorated foam and loose adhesive without damaging the board underneath.
The headliner board must be clean, dry and structurally sound. Remove all loose foam residue and repair cracks, weakened edges or damaged mounting areas before applying the replacement material.
Dry-fit and center the cloth before applying adhesive. Use a high-temperature automotive headliner adhesive compatible with foam-backed cloth. Install the material gradually from the center toward the outer edges to reduce wrinkles, trapped air and uneven tension.
Do not excessively stretch the material. Stretching can distort the cloth surface, compress the foam backing and place unnecessary strain on the adhesive bond.
Allow the adhesive to cure according to its instructions before trimming excess material or reinstalling the board. The commonly documented recovery procedure is to remove the board, scrape away the old covering and adhesive, bond the new foam-backed material and trim the excess before reinstallation.
Professional installation is recommended when the original board is brittle, warped, cracked or previously repaired. Electronic displays, photography lighting, aging original components and production dye lots can affect perceived color. Compare a physical material sample with the vehicle’s existing trim when a close Oyster color match is required.
