Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following.
Protect the painted door surface beneath the exterior door handle with this OER reproduction gasket PAIR. Designed for 1976–1981 Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Formula, and Trans Am models, the gasket installs between the exterior door handle housing and the door body.
After several decades of exposure, original door-handle gaskets can become compressed, brittle, cracked, distorted, or missing. A deteriorated gasket can allow the metal handle housing to contact the painted door surface, potentially contributing to scratches, chipped paint, visible outlines, and moisture collecting around the handle opening.
Replacing the gasket creates a protective barrier between the exterior handle and the painted door surface. It also provides a cleaner, more professionally finished appearance around the handle housing.
A repaint is the ideal time to replace this gasket. Removing the old handle and gasket before surface preparation allows the door to be properly painted underneath them. Installing a fresh gasket and the exterior handle after the paint has cured helps prevent tape-off marks, old gasket outlines, and rough overspray edges.
