Restore the complete appearance of your Formula or Trans Am rear lighting panel with this comprehensive OER reproduction lens and fuel-door kit. The kit includes the driver- and passenger-side tail-lamp lenses, center smoked fuel door, operating hinge and spring, and silver-and-black Firebird bird emblem.
Each injection-molded lens is manufactured to duplicate the original fit, configuration, and appearance. The outer tail-lamp lenses feature the correct smoked finish, factory-style black accent detailing, and authentic OEM-style markings. Inner red stop-lamp lenses and clear backup-lamp lenses are supplied for both sides.
The center smoked fuel door includes the bracket, pivoting hinge, and tension spring. A silver-and-black Firebird emblem is supplied for vehicles requiring the silver rear bird-emblem configuration. OER also lists five lens-to-housing retaining clips with the kit.
This kit contains the exterior lenses and fuel-door assembly. The tail-lamp housings, bulb sockets, wiring harness, and bulbs are separate.
OER officially catalogs R278143 for 1979-1981 Trans Am models equipped with the smoked rear lamp design and silver Firebird emblem. The lenses and fuel door also interchange with 1979-1981 Formula models equipped with the same factory-style smoked rear lighting configuration. They are not appearance-correct for Base Firebird or Esprit models with a different rear lamp finish.
