Restore the interior of your Third Generation Firebird or Trans Am with a complete molded carpet package covering both the passenger compartment and rear hatch/cargo area.
Manufactured by ACC, this reproduction carpet is designed around the contours of the 1982-1984 Firebird floor pan and uses cut-pile carpet material consistent with the style originally used by GM. The passenger-area carpet is molded to follow the transmission tunnel, floor pan, seat area, and other interior contours for a more factory-style fit and appearance than universal flat automotive carpet.
This is the complete carpet package, combining the molded passenger-area carpet with the carpet required for the rear hatch/cargo area. It is an excellent choice for a complete interior restoration where the original carpet is faded, stained, worn, damaged, missing, or deteriorated.
The passenger-area carpet includes jute padding, and Hawks offers several configuration choices that allow the carpet package to be tailored to the restoration.

STANDARD BACKING
The standard molded passenger-area carpet uses a lightweight backing with jute insulation padding.
Jute padding helps provide insulation between the carpet and vehicle floor while contributing to a more finished interior installation.
OPTIONAL MASS BACKING
For customers looking for additional insulation and a more substantial carpet assembly, Mass Backing is available as an upgrade.
The optional Mass Backing uses an approximately 45-mil EVA material bonded to the carpet. Benefits include:

- Improved ability to maintain the molded floor-pan shape

Mass Backing is particularly worth considering during a complete restoration when the original interior and carpet are already removed.
ATTACHED OR LOOSE JUTE PADDING
Hawks also offers a choice in how the jute insulation padding is supplied.
Attached Padding:
The jute padding is attached to the carpet for a conventional installation.
Loose Padding:
Selecting loose padding supplies the jute separately from the carpet. This allows the carpet to be molded more precisely during manufacturing without the padding affecting the molding process.
During installation, the loose jute padding is positioned on the floor first, followed by the molded carpet.
CONSOLE CUTOUT OPTIONS
The carpet can be ordered according to the console configuration of the vehicle.
Select the appropriate console cutout option when ordering to match your Firebird's interior configuration.

INSTALLATION NOTES
This is a pre-molded reproduction carpet set, but final fitting is still required during installation.
Always test-fit the complete carpet before making permanent alterations. Some trimming around the edges and openings may be required to accommodate the individual vehicle, interior components, and final installation.
Do not assume every opening should be cut before the carpet has been properly positioned and test fitted in the vehicle.
If loose jute padding is selected, install and position the padding on the floor before final installation of the molded carpet.
