Designed specifically for the 1982-1984 Pontiac Firebird floor pan, this reproduction uses factory-style cut-pile carpet and is molded to follow the transmission tunnel, footwells, seat area, and surrounding floor contours for a factory-style fit and appearance.
This is the passenger-area carpet only, making it an ideal choice when the front and rear passenger-compartment carpet needs replacement but the existing rear hatch/cargo carpet is still in good condition.

FACTORY-STYLE CUT-PILE CARPET
ACC manufactures this application using cut-pile carpet, matching the style used in the original 1982-1984 Firebird interior.
The carpet is molded rather than supplied as flat universal material. This allows it to follow the major contours of the Firebird floor pan and transmission tunnel for improved fit and appearance.
OPTIONAL MASS BACKING
For customers looking for additional insulation and a more substantial carpet assembly, Mass Backing is available as an upgrade.
The optional Mass Backing uses an approximately 45-mil EVA material bonded to the carpet and can provide:
- Additional sound control
- Additional thermal insulation
- Increased carpet body and structure
- Improved ability to retain the molded floor-pan shape
- A more substantial feel underfoot
Mass Backing is optional and is not required for installation.
ATTACHED OR LOOSE JUTE PADDING
Hawks offers a choice in how the jute insulation padding is supplied.
Attached Padding:
The jute padding is attached to the carpet for a conventional replacement-carpet installation.
Loose Padding:
The jute insulation is supplied separately from the carpet. Keeping the padding separate during the molding process allows the carpet to conform more precisely to the floor-pan mold.
During installation, the loose jute padding is positioned on the vehicle floor first, followed by the molded carpet.
CONSOLE CUTOUT OPTIONS
Select the appropriate console cutout configuration when ordering to match your Firebird's interior.
Always completely test fit and position the carpet before making final cuts or alterations.

INSTALLATION NOTES
This carpet is pre-molded, but final fitting and trimming are required during installation.
Completely position and test fit the carpet before making permanent cuts. Final trimming may be necessary around the edges, seat locations, console area, interior trim, and other openings to accommodate the individual vehicle.
If loose jute padding is selected, position the padding on the vehicle floor before final installation of the molded carpet.
Do not make permanent cuts until the carpet is properly centered and completely test fitted.
