Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1985-1992 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am / GTA Large Outline-Style Hood Bird Decal from Phoenix Graphix, part number 8587TA-1.
This GM-authorized reproduction restores the large outline-style hood bird originally associated with 1985-1987 third-generation Trans Am models. Its distinctive open-line design stretches across the hood to recreate the bold factory-style appearance used during this period.
The decal is physically compatible with:
- 1982-1992 standard Firebird flat hoods
- 1985-1992 Trans Am vented hoods
- 1985-1992 GTA vented hoods
This hood bird will not fit the raised Formula bulge hood. Although it physically fits the later Trans Am and GTA hood design through 1992, customers completing a factory-correct restoration should confirm that the large hood bird was appropriate for their vehicle’s model year and original graphics package.
Available color choices include:
- Gold Metallic
- Black Metallic

- Charcoal Metallic
- Dark Brown Metallic for applicable gold cars
Select the appropriate color before ordering. The decal is manufactured using high-performance automotive-grade 3M vinyl for a crisp, durable and factory-style finished appearance.
This package contains one large outline-style hood bird only. Sail-panel birds, Trans Am identification decals, front and rear bumper names, engine callouts, square-dot fade striping, accent striping, rear Pontiac graphics and technical decals are not included.
Professional installation is strongly recommended because the large graphic requires careful surface preparation, positioning and application to achieve proper alignment and adhesion.
