Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 989-KIT LS1 GTO 8-Rib Drive Conversion Kit with 10% Overdrive Damper, Innovators West. This complete 8-rib accessory-drive conversion is designed for LS1-powered Pontiac GTO applications and includes an SFI 18.1 harmonic damper with a 10% overdrive crank pulley, along with the pulleys needed to convert the accessory drive to 8 ribs.

If you're putting boost through an LS1 GTO, the factory belt drive is one of the first places worth stepping up. More ribs give the belt more real estate to grab, while the 10% overdrive crank damper gets the blower spinning harder without having to rely solely on an ultra-small blower pulley. This is the kind of front-drive upgrade that makes sense when you're building the car to put down some real power and want the belt system to keep up.

The kit includes the 833 10% overdrive 8-rib damper, 979 power steering pulley, 1010 offset smooth idler, 973 ribbed tensioner pulley, and 1031 8-rib alternator pulley. An optional 1089 underdrive alternator pulley is available. Cars equipped with a sprag-style alternator pulley require the additional 1053 LS GTO 17mm x 1.5 nut.

Super Duty Blower Hub Option:
The Super Duty Blower Hub is a thicker hub designed to provide greater resistance to hub cracking in high-power supercharged applications producing 750 rwhp and greater. This option includes a new custom-made timing cover seal that adapts the oversized hub to a stock timing cover.

Underdrive Alternator Option:
The Underdrive Alternator option uses a larger-diameter 2.800-inch alternator pulley designed to slow alternator speed on high-RPM race engines operating at 7,500 RPM or higher. Because the alternator turns slower, this option may cause charging issues at idle on street-driven vehicles.
