Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1970-1973 Firebird / Trans Am Buckskin Premier Perforated Vinyl 5-Bow Headliner with Sun Visor Material, Acme 70-1513-PRP1186.
This replacement headliner is tailored for 1970-1973 Pontiac Firebird, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am models equipped with the original suspended five-bow headliner system. It is pre-sewn using a model-specific roof pattern and manufactured from Buckskin Premier Perforated Vinyl.
The pre-sewn listings on the back of the headliner accept the vehicle’s original five metal support bows. Before removing the old headliner, each bow should be marked according to its front-to-rear position and transferred into the corresponding listing of the replacement headliner. The metal headliner bows are not included.
Matching loose Buckskin Premier Perforated Vinyl material is included for recovering the vehicle’s original sun visors. This is unfinished upholstery material and does not include completed sun visors, replacement visor cores, support rods, brackets or mounting hardware.
The 70-1513 headliner family is tailored for 1970-1973 Pontiac Firebird applications. A centerline is marked on the back to assist with alignment, and additional perimeter material is provided for stretching and final trimming during installation.
Premier Perforated Vinyl is associated with deluxe-interior applications. Buckskin, also described as Light Saddle Buckskin Tan, is most directly associated with 1970-1971 factory color applications. The headliner can physically fit later vehicles retaining the same five-bow system, but customers seeking factory-original color accuracy should verify the vehicle’s interior trim code.
This is a tailored, pre-sewn suspended headliner. It is not loose material by the yard, foam-backed headliner-board material, a molded ABS headliner board or a board-to-bow conversion kit.

FITMENT WARNINGS
Verify the five-bow system before ordering: This product fits vehicles equipped with the original suspended rod or bow-style headliner. Count the existing bows and inspect the roof attachment points before removing the original material.
1973 production variation: This headliner fits 1973 vehicles retaining the earlier sewn bow-style system. Later-production 1973 Firebird and Trans Am models changed to a one-piece board-style headliner, which requires a different replacement product.
Headliner bows are not included: The vehicle’s five original metal bows must be transferred to the replacement headliner or a compatible bow set must be obtained separately.
Sun visor material is unfinished: The included matching material is intended for recovering the original visor cores. Cutting, wrapping, sewing or edge binding may be required. Ready-to-install sun visors are not included.
Factory color application: Buckskin or Light Saddle Buckskin Tan is most directly documented for 1970-1971 deluxe-interior applications. Installation in a 1972 or 1973 vehicle may represent a custom color choice rather than a factory-original combination.
Color control: Buckskin is distinct from Brown, Dark Saddle, Sandalwood, Camel Tan and Doeskin. Compare a physical PRP1186 sample when precise matching with existing interior components is required. Acme product documentation warns that electronic displays cannot guarantee exact color representation.
INSTALLATION NOTES
Before removing the original headliner, number each of the five bows according to its position from front to rear. Bow lengths and contours may differ, so each bow should return to its original roof position.
Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, coat hooks, windlace and surrounding roof trim as required to release the old headliner. Preserve all reusable original trim and mounting hardware.
Carefully remove the bows from the original headliner and insert them through the corresponding sewn listings in the replacement headliner. Do not interchange the bows or force them through the material.
Use the marked centerline to position the headliner correctly from front to rear and side to side. Suspend all five bows before permanently securing the perimeter.
Stretch and secure the material gradually, working outward from the center and alternating between opposite sides. Pulling one side completely tight before adjusting the opposite side may create diagonal wrinkles or shift the headliner off-center.
Do not trim the excess perimeter material until the headliner is centered, evenly tensioned and checked for proper bow placement. Cut openings for the dome light, visor brackets, coat hooks and related accessories only after final positioning.
Use the included matching material to recover the original sun-visor cores. Sun visor recovering may require cutting, sewing, edge binding and automotive upholstery equipment.
Windlace is not included and must be reused or purchased separately. Professional installation is recommended for correct bow sequencing, material tensioning and final trimming.
