Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1970-1973 Firebird / Trans Am Dark Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl 5-Bow Headliner with Sun Visor Material, Acme 70-1513-PRP1183.

This replacement headliner is tailored for 1970-1973 Pontiac Firebird, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am models equipped with the original suspended five-bow headliner system. It is manufactured from Dark Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl and pre-sewn in a model-specific factory-style roof pattern. Current product records identify 70-1513-PRP1183 as the Dark Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl configuration within Acme’s 70-1513 Firebird headliner family.

The headliner contains five sewn listings designed to accept the vehicle’s original metal support bows. The existing bows must be removed from the old headliner, labeled by their front-to-rear positions and transferred into the corresponding listings of the replacement headliner. The five metal bows are not included.

Matching Dark Blue Premier Perforated Vinyl material is included for recovering the vehicle’s original sun visors. This is unfinished upholstery material rather than completed sun visors. Original visor cores, support rods, brackets and mounting hardware are not included.

The tailored 70-1513 pattern is offered across the 1970-1973 Firebird range, although Acme’s factory application chart associates the Dark Blue 39P configuration most directly with 1971-1972 interiors. Customers seeking a factory-correct restoration should verify the vehicle’s trim code and original headliner color before ordering.

This is a tailored, pre-sewn suspended headliner. It is not loose material by the yard, foam-backed headliner-board material, a molded headliner board or a board-to-bow conversion kit.

FITMENT WARNINGS

Verify the five-bow system before ordering: This headliner fits vehicles equipped with the original suspended five-bow system. Count the existing bows and inspect the roof attachment locations before removing the original material.

Confirm 1973 headliner construction: The vehicle must retain the five-bow suspended system. Because separate late-1973 and board-style replacement products are also cataloged, the actual headliner design should be physically confirmed before ordering.

Headliner bows are not included: The original five metal bows must be transferred into the replacement headliner or sourced separately.

Sun visor material is unfinished: The included material is intended for recovering the original visor cores. Cutting, sewing, wrapping or edge binding may be required. Ready-to-install sun visors are not included.

Windlace is not included: Required windlace and surrounding perimeter trim must be reused or purchased separately.

Factory-color application: Acme’s condensed application chart most directly associates the Dark Blue 70-1513-39P configuration with 1971-1972. Installation in another listed year may represent a custom color selection rather than the vehicle’s original color.

Color control: PRP1183 is Dark Blue. Do not substitute Light Blue PRP1182, Medium Blue PRP1482, Navy, Light Silver Blue or Black. Photography, lighting and monitor calibration may alter the apparent shade, so a physical PRP1183 sample is recommended when precise matching is important.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Before removing the original headliner, mark each of the five bows according to its front-to-rear location. Bow lengths and contours may differ, so every bow should return to its original roof position.

Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, coat hooks, windlace and surrounding roof trim as necessary to release the original headliner. Preserve all reusable original trim and mounting hardware.

Carefully remove the bows from the old headliner and insert them through the corresponding sewn listings in the replacement headliner. Do not interchange the bows or force them through the material.

Use the marked centerline to position the headliner from front to rear and side to side. Suspend all five bows before permanently securing the material around the perimeter. The tailored pattern includes additional perimeter material for stretching and final trimming.

Stretch and secure the material gradually, working outward from the center and alternating between opposite sides. Tightening one side completely before adjusting the opposite side may produce diagonal wrinkles or move the headliner off-center.

Do not trim the excess material until the headliner is centered, evenly tensioned and checked for proper bow placement. Cut openings for the dome light, visor brackets, coat hooks and related accessories only after final positioning.

Use the included matching material to recover the original sun-visor cores. Recovering the visors may require cutting, sewing, edge binding and automotive upholstery equipment.

Professional installation is recommended for proper bow sequencing, alignment, controlled tensioning and final trimming.
