Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1970 Firebird Esprit Formula Trans Am White Premier Perforated Vinyl 5-Bow Headliner with Sun Visor Material, Acme 70-1513-PRP1181.

This replacement headliner is manufactured for 1970 Pontiac Firebird two-door hardtop models equipped with the original suspended five-bow headliner system. It is sewn using an original-style roof pattern and reproduced White Premier Perforated Vinyl, providing the perforated appearance and texture associated with factory-style deluxe interiors.

The headliner arrives pre-sewn with listings or sleeves that accept the vehicle’s original five metal headliner bows. The bows must be removed from the original headliner, marked according to their front-to-rear positions and transferred into the corresponding listings in the replacement headliner. Replacement bows are not included.

Acme supplies matching loose material yardage for recovering the vehicle’s original sun visors.  This allows the surrounding upholstered components to be recovered in the same White Premier Perforated Vinyl as the new headliner. The supplied material is unfinished covering material and does not include assembled sun visors, new visor cores.

This product is a tailored, pre-sewn suspended headliner. It is not loose headliner material by the yard, a foam-backed board recovery kit or a molded ABS headliner board.

Windlace is not included. Acme recommends professional installation and currently lists a 36-month limited manufacturer warranty for this product.

FITMENT APPLICATIONS

Pontiac Firebird with Original Five-Bow Headliner

  • 1970 Pontiac Firebird
  • 1970 Pontiac Firebird Esprit
  • 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula
  • 1970 Pontiac Trans Am

The exact expanded-number product record lists this headliner for a 1970 Pontiac Firebird two-door hardtop with five bows. Firebird, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am use the same general second-generation coupe roof family, but the vehicle’s existing headliner system should still be inspected before ordering.

Fitment Warnings

Exact SKU is 1970-specific

Verify five bows: This headliner fits the original five-bow suspended system. Count the existing bows and inspect the roof mounting points before ordering.

Bows not included: The vehicle must retain five usable original bows.

Extra material is unfinished: Matching visor material is included, but completed sun visors are not included.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Before removing the original headliner, mark each of the five bows according to its position from front to rear. Bow lengths and contours may differ, so each bow should return to its original roof position.

Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, coat hooks, windlace and surrounding roof trim as required to release the original headliner. Save all reusable trim pieces and mounting hardware.

Carefully remove the original bows and slide them through the matching sewn listings in the new headliner. Do not force the bows through the sleeves or interchange their positions.

Center the headliner from front to rear and side to side before securing the perimeter. Suspend all five bows first, then stretch the material progressively while alternating between opposite sides.

Do not trim away the perimeter material until the headliner is centered, properly tensioned and checked for wrinkles. Cut openings for the dome light, visor brackets and related accessories only after the final position is established.

Professional installation is recommended because bow-style headliners require accurate bow placement, controlled stretching and careful perimeter trimming.

White material may appear warmer, cooler or slightly cream-colored because of photography, electronic displays, lighting, aged original trim and production dye-lot variation. Compare a physical PRP1181 sample when an exact color match is required.
